"Fitbit Alta HR Are You A Fitbit?"

I'd always wanted to have a Fitbit Alta HR so when someone bought this for me as a gift I was really delighted. I am on Slimming World and so any extra exercise is always advised especially to get Body Magic. The more exercise I do, the more weight I lose.

The Fitbit Alta HR measures how many steps you do each day, the distance you walk, the calories that you have burnt and the active minutes. Furthermore, it has smart-track auto exercise recognition. You can change the bands so you can customise your watch. The great thing is it has a long battery life so you don't have to worry about the battery running out. There is no need to wear chest straps because it has PurePulse continuous heart rate. There is also auto-sleep tracking and a silent alarm for your convenience. There are also call, text and calendar alerts. In addition, it has IOS, Android, Windows, Mac and PC. It is also water resistant. There are many different features and I enjoy what this watch can do.

On the Fitbit Alta HR app and dashboard you can see charts and graphs, select a sleep schedule, contact friends, log your diet, weight and more and earn badges. I find that earning badges gives you more of an incentive to lose weight and get fit,

Everyone has a different route to health and fitness, but Fitbit Alta HR really helps to keep you in track. This slim, attractive wristband tracks calories as you burn them and keeps track of your exercise intensity. Furthermore, you will gain credit for exercising and being healthy. You will receive smart phone notifications keeping you up to date as you carry out your day. You can change the design with metal, leather and more classy bands. It also tracks your sleep and displays the amount of time you have spent in REM, deep and light sleep. Although these watches are water resistant they are not water proof and should not be placed in water. If you accidentally drop this into water, it will stop working so you do have to be careful, especially when going swimming.

For people who have nickel or metal allergies, it is important to note that the back of the Fitbit Alta HR is metal and will affect someone who is allergic to it. The wristband is not very durable, which is disappointing considering the price of this. You do have to be careful not to drop this or be heavy handed with it.

I must admit that owning this has helped keep me motivated on my fitness. Fitbit has taken the ordinary activity tracker and improved it. It may not be fancy, but it is neat and the added bonus of the heart rate tracking really helps. It offers a lot more than a basic step counter. The screen can be temperamental at times and not respond occasionally. The sports tracker is not the most dynamic. When it is really bright outside, it can be tricky to read the display. I usually have to cover it to read it in bright sunlight.

Fitbit is excellent when it comes to counting steps. You can usually purchase it for around £129.99 at places like Argos, Curry's, Boots and Amazon. It is an upgraded version to the Fitbit Alta and the HR stands for heart rate scanner which is what you are paying extra for. The great thing with the addition of the heart rate scanner is that it does not add bulk to the fitbit. Due to the added addition of the heart rate scanner, it is now a more sophisticated fitness monitoring Fitbit. It does improve the abilities of the device, but it costs extra and is it really worth it? I would probably say, "no".

It does not compare to the price or quality of the Apple Watch, but it is still a lot to pay for a glorified step counter.

The design is good with a sleek 15 mm body, it is comfortable to wear and not bulky. It is neat with a stainless steel sensor pod that attaches to your wrist. The display is fairly easy to read unless you are in direct sunlight. It falls in the middle bracket of Fitbit's so it is not fantastic, but it is not the worst you can buy either.

It looks nice on my wrist and feels comfortable to wear. The body of this device is slightly curved to fit the arc of my wrist, with a secure, locking plastic buckle and when you are jogging, it stays in place well. There is a lack of physical buttons which is good because it makes the design neater. The built-in design is very basic, but I like this better. It provides all the necessary data without overloading with figures. Some Fitbit's can be quite complicated, but not this one.

The colours vary from classic black to brighter coral and fuchsia. If you get fed up of wearing black you can easily unhook it and put a more colourful band on. Furthermore, there are different materials for the straps including; leather, fabric and metal. You can choose from two different sizes of strap; small and large. There is a printable sizing card that is worth looking at before deciding what size to buy.

I like the design and feel of the Fitbit Alta HR and it has a few new design alterations compared to the last model. It fits snugly around my wrist and does not get in the way whilst I am carrying out my daily activities. The Fitbit Alta HR has a black and white screen that displays the date and time. The screen works by holding your wrist up to the light, similar to smartwatches. You can also tap the screen twice to make it work. Then you scroll through the different displays for each different aspect of fitness. It is not possible to cycle backwards so you have to go through all of the different options to reach the main screen again which is a bit annoying.

It is a good watch and I've had some good use out of it, but it is very expensive for the price.
