To decribe this book first of all i have chosen to include the following lines to give you the overall gist of this book:
The Express magazine, 2 October 2004 stated 'This wonderful collection of spectacularly ugly creatures is guaranteed to add sparkle to bedtime stories everywhere.'
And Heat magazine quoted 'Sick and wrong? Absolutely. We laughed our bleedin' heads off. '
Colourful pictures and descriptions of a vast array of weird and wonderful creatures. To give a particularly odd example:
A creature called 'PRINT' : 'A small sprooding creature that dives around, sometimes off tall rocks, but always manages to land on its head. They usually die from landing badly in strong wind and spraining their ankle' . Completely mad!
2) FLANIMAL BEHAVIOUR: Everyday non-sensical activities of a selection of flanimals, with explanatory picture and descriptions.
3) FLANIMAL TESTING: A short quiz to test your now amazing knowledge of flanimals, inside and out!
+++++++++++++++++++ MY OPINION +++++++++++++++++++
I am actually 18 years old and didnt think that i would like this book more than my much younger brother . . . but i did . . . and i'm sure i won't be the only one. I would also imagine i am not the only one in spotting some interesting, and possibly rude activites, that flanimals such as the 'Munge Fuddler' (once you see the picture all will become clear) may be getting up to !
This book is a definitely a must have for all households, as it is one of those rare books which appeals to anybody of any age, so please don't be put off by what may look like a childish exterior. Also, if the TV series 'The Office' (the most famous creation of Ricky Gervais - the author) was not to your taste, this is by no means similar, apart from the fact its also a unique style of humour!
If you are not familiar with the flanimals craze, they are basically fictional animals excavated from the depths of Ricky Gervais's avid, and very bizarre, imagination. Every flanimal has a funny colour picture and a hilarious description, each trying to outdo each other for pointlessness . If random humour is your bag, look no further!
So to conclude, this is a fantastic book for feeding even the wildest of imaginations, and even a very young child would enjoy it, if only for the variety of pictures.
I will resist giving anything more away, and so i'll leave you in suspense, hoping you'll buy this fab book. I've given it to all of my friends and all of them, without exception, love it, and agree that nobody should have to go through life with knowing what a glonk does . . or doesn't do...
