Easy Data Storage
Review of Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drive - 256 MB by
miggmoggspud
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Easily lost, no security option
...to our IT department a Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drive soon arrived on my desk.
For those who have never seen one, flash drives are a modern alternative to the ancient technology of floppy disks. You can easily transfers file to and from it and it is reusable unlike storing stuff on CD. The Kingston DataTraveler that I have is white in colour with a green tag on it which gives the name and the memory size. It's approximately 6.5cm in length ... ...is that it can be easily lost, although it does come with a hole at one end where you would be able to hook it to a key ring or neck tag. It has a little white cap which when removed reveals the USB plug.
You just plug it into a USB port and send to it whatever information you want (it usually comes up as a "Removable Disk" in your explorer). You know its working as a little light flashes on it during data transfer.
Some flash drives require software ...

SanDisk Cruzer Micro
Review of SanDisk Cruzer Micro - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
crhawk100
Advantages: Small ,portable,good price
Disadvantages: I keep losing it its so small
I was lucky enough to be given one of these for Christmas, and what a delight ti is.
I have a couple of pc in the house and I am always wanting to transfer information between the two.I have tried several methods but not being a computer hardware buff have always screwd it up.
ending up copy data onto a cd and transfering it that way.
Not the most efficient way of doing things as cd tend to hold about 700mb of data and most of the stuff I need ... ...little gizmo comes into its own.
If your operating sysyem is running win98 or better and its equipped with a usb slot ,that all you need.
Just take the cap of the Micro plug it into the usb slot and hopefully your pc will detect and show this extra memory {256mb}as an extra drive.
All you have to do is drag any files you want to transfer/store onto in,let it finish doing it before unplugging
Thats it in a nutshell
if you need to transfer larger ...

DISGO STEW
Review of Disgo Lite - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
proxam
Advantages: Small and easy to use, not to mention very useful
Disadvantages: Badly thought-out keyring attachment
...operate. So, does the Disgo DIS20256R Flash Memory fit the bill? Read on... For anyone who doesn't know exactly what a flash memory is, ama-gonna-tellya. Contrary to what you may believe, it's not the after effects of one acid trip too many, but a device that allows you to store practically anything on a simple, plug-in stick which acts like a separate drive. Data can then be transferred to another location - be it PC or Mac, desktop or laptop, home ... ...you do is plug your disgo into the USB port of any computer - no cables or power supply are needed because disgo takes its power directly from the USB port. First thing ya gotta do, is log on to www.mydisgo.com to register the product and download a few things. For example: I had to download the Keysafe feature* and, if you're using certain operating systems, such as Windows 98, you need to download a driver. I'm on XP so I didn't need to download ...

U S B = U Should (not) Buy
Review of Lexar JumpDrive 2.0 Pro - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
TheChocolateLady
Advantages: Pretty Blue colour, Cap Clips onto the hole, reliable
Disadvantages: The price, unstable connection, transfer light weak
...I'm reviewing today is the Lexar JumpDrive 2.0 Pro, 256mb high-speed portable storage. Just to be precise, the Lexar JumpDrive comes in storage sizes of 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB. As with the SanDisk, you should know that if you're running your computer on Windows98, you'll need to download a driver from the Lexar website (http://www.lexarmedia.com/drivers/index.html) for your system to recognize the USB port as a "drive" on your computer. They also ... ...a peep. With the Lexar we've had some problem with its seeming to disconnect itself every few minutes and then re-connect itself, making the directory window pop up or the icon in the task bar flash. This is very annoying since the Lexar is the one attached to my boss' computer and he gets annoyed when things start beeping at him! At first we thought it might be a problem with his USB port or the extension cable, but when I plugged my SanDisk into ...

My Homework around my neck
Review of LG XTICK Mirror USB flash drive - 256 MB by
richard_r500
Advantages: Stylish and modern mirror design.
Disadvantages: Sharp Edges
...ICT i have found my LG usb flash disk invaluable when transporting work documents to and from on a daily basis. They do seem to be everywhere these days. Cheap to make, cheap to buy but o so useful.
WHERE/WHY?
I bought mine from Comet for what seemed a resonable price. The drag and drop method for moving files could'nt be any easier. With 256mb it soon became clear that i was never going to fill it with homework so i started putting music tracks ... ...The only downside of the LG flash disk is that the corners are awfully sharp in comparison to it's competitors. This is especially noticible when around your neck i have atcually strached myself of it's edges. Also the detacable cap to protect it from dust and everyday knocks and bashes could be lost quite easilly.
CONCLUSION
These are everywhere at the moment and it's seems every technology manufacturer is making them. My advice is chose the memory ...
