Disadvantages: still lacks in data speed
...Review - 02-10-08
Company : KINGSTON DATA TRAVELER - USB Flash Drive series
Storage capacity: 2GB
Titled: here's lots of data storage you can lose on a train!! The company is called Kingston and was formed in 1987; they derived from the booming storage data decade from the mid 1980's, and have developed products and become very well informed in regards to sustainable versatility. Their services and products cater for computers, servers and printers ... ...is called an 'auto-run' The Kingston interface then runs as an applet allows you to then use the device and start storing the digital data by 'drag and drop' cursor technology.
- Flash memory -
A flash drive is now the main source to all portable memory devices and determines the transfer speed. It reads at a transfer rate of 28MB's per second and that is halved when transfering data from the key to another workstation, the more workstations used ...

Good features, but really only for Windows
Review of Transcend JetFlash 220 Fingerprint USB Flash Drive by
TimmyRaa
Advantages: Fingerprint and/or password encryption, relatively cheap given the features, range of capacities
Disadvantages: Encryption requires running software and is Windows-only, protective cover not that protective
Wanting some storage I can carry with me and keep on my keyring, I was aware that it could potentially fall off and was more likely to lose. I'm not so worried about the cost of replacing the key (most are cheap enough to be nearly disposable now), but I was concerned about other people accessing my data. Therefore I need a key which encrypts or just restricts access to unauthorised users.
I use Windows at home, and as I sometimes use Linux machines ... ...both, so I had the idea of getting one with fingerprint authentication on the stick itself.
As a result I chose the JetFlash 220 flash drive from Transcend, as it advertised "driverless use" so I figured I could use it on any operating system. Unfortunately this is not the case - it is completely driverless, if you just want to use the unencrypted section. However, obviously that is not protected, and what's the point of paying the extra for an ...

Enjoy the day with a cruzer and make life easy !!
Review of SanDisk Cruzer Titanium - USB flash drive - 8 GB by
Bossman1959
Advantages: Portable software, upgradability
Disadvantages: Cost, limited range of software
...device... until now!!
The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium stores data of course but has an extra trick up its sleeve that makes all the difference. The difference is down to the U3 launcher that resides on the device as a piece of software.
When the device is inserted into a USB drive the U3 program launches automatically and adds an extra icon to the system tray. When this "U3" icon is clicked you are presented with the U3 launch pad on the right which ... ...menu.
The launch pad has a number of pre-installed programs already on it to give you a flavour of the U3 principle. Some examples are Skype, McAfee Virus Scan USB, Portable Vault & Mahjong. There are a number of others so I have included a picture of the menu.
U3 programs can be downloaded from their website onto the drive and will become part of the menu under the "More Programs" sub-menu. Many are free and I have loaded Mozilla Firefox, Open ...

Powerful U3 USB stick
Review of SanDisk Cruzer Micro U3 - USB flash drive - 4 GB by
gothicbob
Advantages: Fast, Powerful software
Disadvantages: N/A
...and I stumbled upon the SanDisk Cruzer Micro U3. I had recalled reading about U3 devices awhile back so I was quite interested to find out what they were. I discovered that U3 devices pretend to have a CD drive inside them so when you plug in the device it will install its drivers (as with any usb stick) and then it has the ability to autorun software. The software that comes with the USB stick allows certain programs to be installed on the stick, ... ...keep your settings saved on your usb stick so that they are not lost from computer to computer.
The software that comes with the USB stick may be fine for most users but power users may want to check out a few projects to enhance the ability of their U3 drives. http://portableapps.com/ - This website contains many programs with installs created specially for use on a USB stick. It also includes a very nice menu that appears when you insert your ...
