Flexitol Heel Balm is a rich moisturising cream that helps heal those sore or cracked heels. The cream contains vitamin E and Urea. Vitamin E will help improve skin generally and Urea is meant to throughrally hydrate the skin with continued use.
The cost is £5.49 from Boots and other leading chemists and supermarkets.
After a winter of cosy toes and feet wrapped up each day in socks and shoes or toasty warm sheepskin boots, I finally decided in the late spring to expose my fairly good conditioned feet to some fresh air, and popped on my favourite pair of scandals, followed by a few strokes of red nail polish.
I do a fair amount of walking and after some weeks noticed a little hard skin had developed on the back of my heels, and after a soak in the bath applied my usual moisturiser, which is dove body cream. It felt ok but a few days later the hard skin had begun to crack. Any of you that have experienced cracked heels will know that it not only looks ugly, but it's mighty painful. I tried the old pumice stone followed by more moisturiser. I tried soaking my feet in a bowl of warm water, whilst watching TV for several hours, using the kettle to top up occasionally. I thought this might soften the skin to help absorb the cream I applied religiously for many nights to follow. I noticed a little improvement but nothing dramatic. I then tried savlon, as I thought perhaps the antiseptic might help (heaven knows now why I thought that). Nothing really worked with any 'Impact'.
Weeks followed but with no great improvement I'm afraid. I was at my end tether and the cracks on my heels seemed to be getting worse. I did not want to put on my tights and shoes again, as we all know it takes ages to expose our legs in the early summer, and going backwards - no, the thought of sweaty feet (when the weather is warm).
One day whilst out shopping I spotted the above product (Flexitol) on the shelf in Boots. I had never heard of the brand, but it caught my eye.
1. Nice bright blue packaging 2. Picture of the before and after 3. Not too expensive 4. Not too cheap
Well, I thought why not give it a go. I bought the hand cream also, as I get flare-ups with eczema. The balm is white in colour and has no specific smell, almost like the smell of simple soap.
I got home and that evening had a soak in the bath followed by my usual ritual of applying the Flexitol Cream. This routine continued for another two weeks, and FINALLY I noticed an improvement, and my heels started to get better.
I am pleased to say that I no longer have cracked heels, but I do apply this cream from time to time as a preventative measure. You need to store this product between 10 - 30 c in a dry place. I don't know if there is an expiry date on it (I can't see one), but as with all creams I suspect this will 'go off' in time.
This extra special cream is manufactured for Laderma Trading, which is a firm in Australia. It's a shame us Brits didn't invent this fabulous cream.
I would rate this cream top notch, and would persuade anyone to give it a try.
p.s. Try Amazon first it's cheaper!
Summary: TRY IT!
