Advantages: Tastes good, low in saturated fats, high in polyunsaturates
Disadvantages: It aint butter.....

...low fat spread, I’d recommend Flora Light like a shot! It has a lovely pale yellow colour (not the deep yellow of real butter, but still passable!) and a light and pleasant taste to it, somewhere between margarine and butter. It also spreads beautifully straight out of the fridge, and has a good shelf life too (especially compared to real butter), normally up to four months or so. And you can freeze it too, another advantage! And most importantly, ...
...a month. The packaging on Flora products is quite simple, but at least that way you’re not paying extra for a creative packaging which ultimately ends up being thrown in the trash! It comes in a simple white and pale blue plastic tub with a tight sealing lid to hold the freshness in.

I can really recommend this product, it’s not only very healthy but it tastes good too. The company that make the stuff (Van Den Bergh Foods ... more

Value for Money

Butter me up, Flora.

Advantages: Relatively inexpensive and tasty.
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as butter.

...brand (yuck) I came across Flora Light - Vegetable Low Fat Spread. It is available in 3 sizes - 250g, 500g and 1kg which will set you back 57p, 84p and £1.57 respectively. So, the price was very attractive. It is readily available in supermarkets and may also be sold in small shops (but expect to pay a lot more for it). The thing that actually attracted me to this spread was the fact that Flora sponsored the London marathon this year and you are ...
...green lettering that it is Flora and above this in blue lettering you are advised that it is the light variety. Behind both these words there is a lovely sun design giving the impression that this is a sunny, fresh product. As you open the pack you are met with a paper covering on the top of the spread. This is easily peeled back to reveal the golden, tasty looking product. It is indeed a lovely pale yellow colour and looks very fresh. There is ...

Flora Light - You Might As Well Give It A Try!

Advantages: Same Price As Original Variety
Disadvantages: Not Suitabe For Baking

My conversion to Flora Light Margarine Spread was not a conscious one. I am not on a diet or any kind of health kick and my initial purchase was just by chance, and yet I have found myself making a repeat purchase. I had run out of Margarine a few weeks ago so I nipped down to my local convenience store only to find that the choice of spreads available consisted of either Flora Light or their own label Happyshopper budget stuff. THE PRODUCT Flora ...
...I have tried the original Flora Spread on many occasions and although I did not have the two products side by side to carry out a taste comparison I guess that I would have struggled to tell the difference between the two. So taste wise I struggle to note any real difference between this and the original variety and since it is the same price for both varieties I do not see that there is any point in buying the original variety as it is only a complimentary ...

Good for the old Tick tock

Advantages: Less fat than ordinary Flora, tastes the same in my mouth
Disadvantages: none

...that with...........................yep you guessed it Flora Light. I had of course seen all the advertisements gorifying the magical properties of Flora, but until now had not really paid much heed to the claims. Flora Light is a reduced fat spread compared to butter it drastically reduces your intake of fat and calories. For each 5g of saturated fats ( the bad fats ) contained in butter the equivalent intake for Flora is just .9g. Likewise the ...
...3g and 16g respectively. So Flora Light is good for you. It comes in a plastic tub with 500g of product contained therein. The tub is the bog standard size of tub that all of these type of products come in.It is nicely decorated in a light blue colour with the Flora logo across its top. the tub cost 91p which is a bit more expensive than other margs' and comparable to a small slab of butter. Can we really measure cost against the benefits though..........I ...

Spread that Flora Light

Advantages: Its Easy to spread, Tastes great, Not to expensive
Disadvantages: Its not Butter

Having grown up around Flora Light and living a sheltered existence I never really understood what butter was. Whenever I was given a sandwich it had Flora spread in it. Baked potatoes with cheese always had a dollop of Flora light to add to the flavour. And this is how it was for me. When I got in to my mid teens I discovered butter. It was by accident and I was at a friends house making myself a sandwich. I looked in his fridge for Flora Light ...
...based spreads and back to Flora light. Flora light is great, its high in polyunsaturates and low in saturates which medical science has lead me to believe is meant to be better for my heart then if it was the other way around. It's a vegetable based spread which means its made from vegetable fats rather then dairy based oils. Surely being made from vegetables has got to be better for you then being made from dairy products? Flora light comes in three ...

Nearly the perfect marg

Advantages: Good taste and easy to spread from the fridge
Disadvantages: Can't use it for baking or frying

I moved to Flora Light from Flora Buttery about eighteen months ago when I realised that Light has nearly half the calories (366kcal per 100g) of the Buttery. As we are always trying to lose weight this seemed an easy way of reducing calorie intake without noticing. I was pleasantly surprised that the only noticible difference with Buttery is the lighter colour. Also the price in the supermarket £1.03 for the 500g tub was the same - unusual as lower ...
...The tub states that Flora can help lower cholesterol as part of a healthy diet. The Light is also high in polyunsaturated fats which our bodies need and low in the bad saturates. It is a good source of omega 3 and 6 oils, but I don't know what these do I'm afraid. Its is also rich in vitamin E and Folic Acid which is good news for pregnant women. The tubs can be put in the freezer, so I usually have one in there for emergencies - I split it down ...

Flora Extra Light - Its Not Real Butter!

Advantages: low fat
Disadvantages: not as nice as butter

Flora Extra Light Spread.......... This low fat margarine has got to be the slimmers choice of butter substitute. This is because it is so low in fat and calories that I do believe it is the lowest fat spread on the market! I have been using this spread (when there is nothing else on special offer) for quite some time now due to the fact that they seem to have discontinue St Ivel Gold which is something I have used for many years. To be honest however I can't say I see that much difference when using this spread, The Flora Extra Light as with all the Flora margarine comes within a oblong type container with a lid that is easily popped on and off. The colour of the margarine is a little paler than that of Flora Butterly but it does still have a slightly golden tinge to it. There is not really much of a smell that comes off ...

Warburtons Hot Cross Bun Loaf Is A Must Try!

Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: its a limited edition

and sultanas.? So for anyone who hasn't eaten a Hot Cross Bun before that is basically what it is. However unlike most Hot Cross Buns this loaf is deliciously moist and fruity. I have often been disappointed when buying Hot Cross Buns because they seem to have less and less fruit inside every year but Warburtons have certainly stepped up the game with this loaf. Of course you must have the loaf toasted to appreciate the wonderful warm juicy currants and sultanas that makes the slice literally melt in the mouth. I must say we have been buying Flora Extra Light margarine lately and this is what I have been using on this loaf and I still find it delicious. However I would think that with proper butter spread on a warm slice of this you would have heaven on a plate! The loaf itself has been pre-cut into slices that are all of a good ...

Review of Warburtons Hot Cross Bun Loaf

Its just Flora margarine in its dairy free form

Advantages: Dairy free, tastes and seems like Flora margarine, use as normal
Disadvantages: None

the same as the Original Flora margarine, a nice golden yellow colour with no scent. Taking a knife I scraped a bit of the spread, it was not hard like some buttery spreads but soft and easy to load on to the knife. I spreaded it across my slice of bread and it glided with easy, able to cover it without any exerted pressure. Definitely spreads like my trusty Flora but will it taste like it? Taste wise I could not tell the difference between eating Flora margarine and Pure Soya spread as they both tasted the same with that light tasting margarine flavour, not over powering like butter just very subtle. I have tried this on toast and also used it in making flapjacks. I think it's great that it an excellent alternative to dairy and you can just cook and use it normally. It normally is around £1.14 but both ASDA and Tesco have it at £1 ...
