Manufacturer's product description
Rachel's cousin is holding a summer fancy dress ball in a Scottish Castle and Rachel and Kirsty have been invited along. There's lots of preparation for the party and Rachel and Kirsty are looking forward to helping out and exploring the castle and its grounds, as well as being very excited about the dressing up part! But Jack Frost is threatening to spoil the party completely. He was planning to hold a goblin party in that same castle, and he's not going to let those pesky humans get in his way. In fact, he plans to steal the items that the Fancy Dress Fairy needs to make sure the ball is a success, and ruin the party, so that his 'Goblin Reunion' can take place just as he wanted. Rachel and Kirsty must help Flora the Fancy Dress Fairy to rescue her three magic items and make sure that Jack Frost and his naughty goblins don't ruin Fancy Dress parties forever!>
Advantages: girly girls will like it, not as bad as some books coming in such collections Disadvantages: money-spinning emptinesss
...DaisyMeadows is a pen name for a consortium of authors who produce the endless series of "RainbowMagic" sets of fairy books. All the books bear the rainbow logo. Slightly confusingly, the first set of seven books was about the RainbowFairies.
As for now, the franchise covers more than 80 books in sets, each comprising seven books, plus several one-off specials (usually connected with holidays or Christmas. Everything below applies to all the books in all the sets in the whole series, although obviously some books are marginally better or worse than others.
Altogether, it's an admirable entertainment franchise - and a provider of rather vacuous reading material to beginner female readers. There are worse things (don't get me started on the Tiara Club), but there is also many immeasurably better books.

Advantages: Magical Storyline, Lovely pictures, easy to read Disadvantages: Flimsy paperback publication and is part of a series
...All the books in the rainbowfairies series are aimed at a reading target group of girls aged 4-8 years old. This is about preschool to year 3 when they are just getting to know the basic structure of sentences and learning to recognise the longer words. These books are really great for any glitter girls to encourage them to read as the storyline and the appearance of the shiny cover motivates them to pick up the book and explore the pages.
I shall be reviewing this second book in the series: Amber the orange fairy.

PLACE OF PURCHASE: Waterstones

Cover:
As with all in this range, it's another horid paperback, bends easily, shows creaes, doesn't wipe down easily and the corners start to fray. If you chose to strenghten your book one can suggest some to prolong a 'new' look and to help prevent frayed and upturned corners.
Full colour fairy illustrations, and adorned with red foil sparkle, it appeals to the little girls whilst catching the light in book stores.
Story:
The series of books tells the story of the Rainbowfairies. Each book concentrates on the background...
