Well a month ago I got the electric Qualcast mower out of the garage and started one of my designated chores cutting the grass when to my surprise In a big puff accompanied with a large electrical crack the motor gave up the ghost.
Where did I go looking for the replacement?
Time to go shopping me thinks. Ok I did the rounds went to B&Q, Sainsbury?s Homebase and Focus and decided on a petrol mower the Sovereign Petrol Rotary NG460 to be precise on show at the local Sainsbury?s Homebase.

Let me start by saying I used to be a huge fan of Flymo. I have had their mowers for years but I figured that after many years faithful service it was time I upgraded my old mower so when I did to be honest I didn't look at other brands, I just went for my tried and trusted favourite manufacturer and I decided to buy their latest model. So, off I went to B&Q and came home with the new Glide Master.
Out of the box
I was really impressed when I got it home, for once I didn't have to put to together it was more or less ready to go straight out of the box with just a few minor tweaks. I was a little disappointed with the cord storage feature because to be honest all it is is a simple reel that clips on to the top of the mower which you wind the cord around. It did seem a little flimsy and actually not very impressive but ...
Advantages: Easy handling over rougher terrain Disadvantages: No grass collection. When all said and done, it only cuts like any other rotary mower

Most people with grass to cut will at least have heard of Flymo - I'm not entirely sure they INVENTED the hover mower, but their name always springs to mind, for fairly obvious reasons.
I've got quite a long thin garden, largely given over to grass, or 'nature' as it's sometimes known.
For various reasons, I'd left the first cut of the year too late this time (away all weekend, still raining etc - you name it, I had an excuse for it). In fact up to one week ago, I was considering buying a scythe.
Then three things happened.
a) My next door neighbour lent me his wheeled rotarymower with 4 hp petrol engine, which I then used at maximum cutting height to give at least a perfunctory haircut to my grass.
