Disadvantages none really

Flymo Micro Lite Lawn Mower

So we are finally in our new house and for years of living in flats without a private garden or with a courtyard garden we finally have a nice bit of grass to be able to do with as we please. However this of course does man that we need the correct tools to maintain the grass to a high standard (of which I am quite accustomed).

This Flymo Micro Lite was not only cheap yet also small and light weight so seemed the perfect purchase as we are short on funds as it is and of course who needs a super chunky lawn mover especially when the area of grass we have is not overly massive.

We have both a front and back garden and the front has approximately 6 -8 square meters of grass and the back is in stages with around 30 square meters in total there. Having never cut grass before in my life I was unsure of any technique that should be used when doing this rather enjoyable task but on my first attempt it seemed to go pretty well.

This Flymo Micro Lite was purchased from Argos (where else for me!?!) and cost an affordable £45. This price seemed in line with most other outlets selling this product but seeing as we had some vouchers to use this did seem like an ideal thing to use them on. We were able to check stock and reserve from the store for pick up later that day. The box although fairly large was able to fit in the boot of the car and wasn't overly heavy even for a weakling like me!

The Flymo did need some assembling when the box was opened and there was a small leaflet type instruction page to guide me through the step by step process. This was surprisingly simple and took no more than 20 minutes all in. Once built the lawn mower was light weight and simple to store as well as easy to move from our garage to the front or back gardens.

The first time I used the machine I did follow the guidelines on how to use it given in the instruction leaflet and made sure I didn't start it up in a “on ground” position as this would create a bald spot so did tilt the machine slightly when starting it up. The power cable was a good size length at 10 meters and reached into the house for the front garden but I did need to use an extension lead to do the back garden.

The 4.5 kg of weight seemed to move across the grass fairly easily and I made sure that I was moving the mower up and down rather than side to side like it said in the instructions. The cutting heights range from 1 cm to 3.5 cm and the middle seemed to leave the grass to a good looking style.

The 1000 watts of power seemed good enough to cut my grass even when it was quite overgrown on the first cut and it worked its way through the mini jungle with relative ease and because I had heard some not so great reviews about these lightweight Flymos I was not expecting it to perform as well as it did.

Using the lawn mower is a simple case of initially turning it on by pushing in the handle and then the small rubbery button positioned next to the handle which will start up the motor. The handle area then needs to be kept pushed in for the motor to continue to run and for the grass to be cut.
