My purchase of Flymo PAC A Mow was the result of some intense research. I was looking for a not too costly mower,that had a metal blade and which would do a decent job.
Appearance: The Flymo came in a bright orange and grey colour which lent some colour to my garage. It is really cool to look at. It can also nicely be packed away after use so dosent compete for much space.
Putting It Together: Wasnt too complicated as there is an excellent leaflet that came with it. Took less than 15 minutes for my partner even though it was the first lawnmower that he saw up close!
Using/Operating it: Flymo has 2 start stop levers on the upper handle of Flymo. You can use either one after first releasing the Lock-Off button on the switch box. This Lock-Off button is a good safety feature which will prevent the machine from turning on accidentally. The point to note when mowing a slightly overgrown lawn is not to overload Flymo. Its best to first mow it at the highest height stting first and then to mow it again using the desired height. Otherwise it is pretty much straightforward to use and very easy for normal height cuttings.
Cleaning Flymo: The manufacturers recommend not using water to clean it. What I do is use a brush to clean out all the grass and then I use a cloth to give a thorough clean--works quite well as I dont do it quite frequently and still its OK--no much stuck up muck!
Interesting to Know --- Features: 1* Its not too heavy, and I like this because I have a bad back and something too heavy dosent agree with me. Its almost as heavy as most pushchairs at 13.75kg.
2* It has a metal Blade as opposed to plastic blades that most other lawnmowers in this price range. Plastic blades go blunt soon.
3* Another interesting feature is the 3 different cut height positions from 20-60mm. This is just great for when you'd like to leave the lawn for a while, like when going on holiday. I normally do it in the mid position as that is what is recommended. Cut height is adjusted by raising or lowering the front and back wheels and is quite easy to do.
4* The cut width is 33cm and you can make stripes too. 5* Removable Grassbox in which the cut grass is automatically collected. Very easy to remove and empty, and equally easy to fit it back.
Drawbacks: Havent felt any yet.
Conclusion: I feel I made a good purchase as it ticked the boxes that I wanted. I'm sure there are several other Lawnmowers much more sophisticated out there but they are over and above what I intend to spend. I wasnt looking for luxury lawnmowing, but something that was costeffective, durable and easy to use, and I believe I made the right choice.
All in all I am proud of my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
