After the huge success that was “Have a Nice Day”, Mick Foley’s biography of his time wrestling as Mankind and other characters, it was almost inevitable that there would be another part. Especially as his first book was supposed to end with his wrestling career and, as it turned out, his ... Read review

Foley's Been Better Review ofFoley is Good: and the Real World is Faker than Wrestling - Mick Foleyby
Soho_Black
Advantages: Wider in scope than "Have a Nice Day" Disadvantages: Just not quite as good.
...at that point.
Mick Foley also has something he wants, or maybe even needs, to say. About many things, mostly related to wrestling. He feels very strongly about the stupidity of the backyard wrestling craze in the US and the (as he sees it) unfair treatment handed out to World Wrestling Entertainment by the Parents Television Council.
He starts by talking in more depth about his time at the end of his active wrestling career, about his time as ... ...done throughout both his biographies, Foley descends into a list format, listing his favourite amusement parks, rides, wrestling matches and films. It’s a shame, as he has already proven himself to be an accomplished writer and several pages of lists serves only to break up the flow of the book. It’s certainly a nice change to read something that isn’t completely related to wrestling, but it’s more of a distraction than a change for the better. Although ...

Advantages: A well crafted story of one's man's life and belief Disadvantages: It's the type of book you will either want to read, or won't
Foley is Good is the follow up to Mick Foley's Have a Nice Day (A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks) and brings the story of the life of the wrestler (as a person and a character in the WWF) up to date.
The author speaks candidly about his time in the WWF, his past, the various tragedies and events that beset his career and the lives around him, and his feelings on the current state of the wrestling industry. He does this in a style that is very much ... ...ever sugary sweet.
He never tries to make out that wrestling is a real sport. He doesn't make out that the injuries he has suffered are any worse than they are, tells the truth about the way the industry works and why it works, and is more than open about the many injuries and deaths that have been associated with the "fake world of wrestling."
Yes, he does rant on occasion, but justifies his opinions in a way that makes sense. He does leap to ...

Bang Bang its good Review ofFoley is Good: and the Real World is Faker than Wrestling - Mick Foleyby
Ork1927
Advantages: More great stuff from Foley Disadvantages: Not as good as the first
Foley is Good is the follow up to the best selling autobiography, Have a Nice Day - The story of wrestler Mick Foley. I have already reviewed that book (not that anyone read it) and this is Foley's continuing story through the last two years since the first book finished.
This isn't actually out in the UK as yet in normal book shops but it can be picked up in specialist shops through import. Where as the first book covered 15/20 years of Foley's ... ...final years as a wrestler, Foley gives his insights into Theme Parks, Micky Mouse and what happens when a ghost writer tries to right a sport stars autobiography. Foley actually wrote both books on his own, this may be a guy who made a living out of getting beat up and hit with chairs but he is a very intelligent family man.
If you don't watch wrestling, then I doubt you've got this far anyway but both this and the first book tells a very interesting ...

Foley is God Review ofFoley is Good: and the Real World is Faker than Wrestling - Mick Foleyby
Craggles84
Advantages: Honest, Down-to-earth, to the point and easy to read Disadvantages: None
...diversity of his WWF(E) characters Foley has secured himself a place as one of wrestlings all time greats.
Phew, well, the book. To my mind this book was the epitome of what a biography should be, an honest account of a lifetimes events through the eyes and words of the biographical subject. Foley chose to open the book with a chapter about a rather gruesome event in his wrestling career, a detailed account of how he lost two-thirds of his right ... ...chapter in particular, is that Foley uses brackets to explain wrestling terms in laymens words. I expect this will be a good bonus to those reading who are unfamiliar with the wrestling business. Enough nonsense. Chapter two is where the real story kicks off. Back to Foley's teenager days and he tells the story of his childhood, the creation of Dude Love and numerous other tales which i won't divulge because i don't want to ruin the book for you.

"Foley is God of Hardcore" Review ofFoley is Good: and the Real World is Faker than Wrestling - Mick Foleyby
Andyx
Advantages: None Disadvantages: None
...World Wrestling Federation Superstar Mick Foley said his piece in his 532-page, No. 1 New York Times bestselling literary opus Mankind--Have a Nice Day! Well, some people would be wrong. Very wrong. Because Mick Foley is back with a vengeance.
Foley Is Good picks up right where the last book left off, as once again readers are given a bird's-eye view of the behind-the-scenes action in the World Wrestling Federation. With the same total honesty and ... ...Quit" match with The Rock, Foley covers all the bases in this hysterically funny roller-coaster ride of a memoir. Some know him as Cactus Jack, others as Dude Love. We loved him as Mankind, and he was the best Commissioner the World Wrestling Federation ever had. But if you want to know the real Mick Foley, if you want to get inside the head of one of sports entertainment's biggest superstars, then there's no substitute for Foley Is Good. Readers ...
