Little Girl With The Big Voice
Review of LeAnne Rimes by Tamara99

Advantages: Stunningly beautiful voice
Disadvantages: early work is beautiful but lacks the depth seen more recently

LeAnn Rimes burst onto the music scene in 1996 with her first hit, Blue, a rework of a classic originally written for Patsy Cline. Born Margaret LeAnn Rimes on August 28, 1982, she was only 13 at the time it was released. As a little girl growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, her talent was evident as young as 2 years old. Her family then moved to a suburb of Dallas in 1988 to help her career.. Before her debut of Blue, she sang the Star-Bangled Banner ...
...won first prize on Star Search, and numerous talent contests. By age 15, she has solidified her style and her stardom by recording the cross-genre smash, How Do I LIve. This song was originally commissioned for the movie, Con Air, but the track she gave them didn't quite fit what they were looking for, so another artist, Trisha Yearwood, recorded it again. While Trisha's version is the 'official' one, it was LeAnn who made it a hit on both the pop ... Read review

For Jilly - My Forever Friend - She's Special
Review of Charlie Landsborough by the_mad_cabbie

Advantages: See text of opinion
Disadvantages: See text of opinion

...on the show. It was Charlie Landsborough, and he was singing one of his now most famous songs, ‘What Colour Is The Wind’. I sat spellbound and enthralled as this marvellous musician quietly wove his magic spell not only on me, but also on an entire nation! So taken were the Irish people by this singer that the show was immediately inundated with calls asking for an encore of the song, and he gave a repeat performance at the end of the ...
...the end of the week, Charlie Landsborough was a household name here in Ireland, and had toppled the then high-flying Garth Brooks from the top of the Irish charts, and held of fierce competition for the No. 1 spot from other well known singers such as Celine Dion and The Chieftans. ~ ~ Charlie Landsborough was born in Birkenhead on the 26th October, 1941, and was the youngest of a family of eleven children. He was reared in a household that loved ... Read review

Garth
Review of Garth Brooks by naterahe77

Advantages: Sang many great songs
Disadvantages: Went into retirement

...music fan until I heard Garth Brooks. He had been one of the greats long before I ever became a fan though. In my mind he was the biggest country singer of the 90's. I became a fan in 98 and have heard most of the pieces that were done by him. Garths song in America are still very popular and are played on all of the country stations. Even after his retirement he has continued to be one of the most popular country artists. Garth grew up in Oklahoma ...
...country and pop charts. Garth then put out his fifth major record 'In Pieces' in 1993 and up to that point he had put out record a year. He then slowed down as he only put out three more records before retired in 2001 'Fresh Horses' (1995), 'Sevens'(1997), 'Scarecrow' (2001). One of the most popular releases was 'Double Live' which was put out in 98. Double Live has most of his biggest hits that he had except the songs from the 'Scarecrow' record. ... Read review

Performer of Pedigree
Review of Eliza Carthy by wizardmarra

Advantages: Upbeat, Melodious and Pure.
Disadvantages: Don't go near if you don't like the fiddle.

Eliza Carthy is a performer of pedigree in two ways. First of all her Mum and Dad are Norma Waterson and Martin Carthy, and if you don't know who they are... ...well we're talking The Royal Family of English Contemparary Folk Music. If you know Folk Music you know who they are, if you don't, then it won't stop you listenting to and apprieciating Elizas' music. It's that music that makes her a Performer of Pedigree as well. Like so many Folk Musicians ...
...become an international marketing phenomenom. Eliza takes beautiful English songs, dance tunes and melodies that rarely been heard for decades, and makes you wonder why nobody has played them before. I would suggest as a good introduction to her music the two C.D.s which make up RED/RICE. Its a set whih I never tire of listening to. It was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize about four or five years ago (As was Elizas' last release this year) ... Read review

Honestly Jimmy Wayne
Review of Jimmy Wayne by Mickie26

Advantages: Great singer, very emotional, very powerful.
Disadvantages: May be too emotional for some

...varied array of emotions. Jimmy Wayne is one of these Country singers that hits you in the soul. Jimmy Wayne has quite a deep voice and he sings from the heart. He writes a lot of his own music and is very talented. Jimmy Wayne quoted this about himself; “My responsibility in the past, when I was sleeping outside every night, was just to survive. My responsibility now is to stay real, stay grounded, and just tell the truth.” — Jimmy Wayne Jimmy ...
...emotions into his singing. Jimmy Wayne is an inspirational singer he finds things that he feels strongly about or that move him in some way. From where he has come from he has definitely moved far and is one of my favourite Country singers. The songs on the album, Jimmy Wayne are as follows; 1 After You 2 Are You Ever Gonna to Love Me? 3 Stay Gone 4 Trespassin' 5 Paper Angels 6 You Are 7 She Runs 8 Just A Dream 9 Blue and Brown 10 I Love You This ...
