Advantages: Pictures uploaded on the web. Quick and efficient service. Disadvantages: Not the cheapest, albeit prices are competitive

A few days later I received large prints and I was extremely happy with them. For a smaller price you can receive smaller prints but as I had a £6 voucher I might as well go for the larger prints.

I sent off my film to Fotango and 2 days later I received an email from them to say that my photos were ready for viewing on the web and that my prints would arrive shortly. Well I logged on and was very happy to see my photos had been uploaded on the web - Great stuff!! This is a great idea as it allows you to share your photos with your friends (as long as they can be connected to the internet of course). The quality of the pictures printed on the net was very good and you can actually choose a selection of photos which can be made public to all your friends while leaving the unwanted ones hidden. Full marks to Fotango for great use of technology!!

I have only used Fotango just the once to take advantage of my voucher but I'm sure I will use them again. The service is quick and efficient and prices are competitive. Go to www.fotango.com and give them a try. BTW I got the voucher for free prints from www.ukfrenzy.com.
Advantages: Slick, quick and easy to use Disadvantages: A medium for Fotango to advertise
I registered with Fotango because I take a lot of digital pictures and it is sometimes nice to have professional prints. Also, Fotango is quite heavily advertised on the Ciao site and I expected this to mean that they are a quality retailer.
So, I took the plunge and ordered a special gift for Valentine's Day.
A rather risque picture of myself to be printed onto a chocolate bar.....
I cannot fault the upload procedures or the ordering systems. ... ...most striking image was the Fotango logo?? I think not.
OK so I buy Nike, Addidas and Calvins. But at least I know what I'm getting into and the logos do tend to be discreet.
With Fotango you don't appear to have any choice. You pays your money, they advertise all over your gift.
I don't think that that is fair play.
Groovy Chocolate, who actually made the bar, responded almost by return to my email and explained the process by which they produce ...

Advantages: Electronic distribution of snaps. Disadvantages: Maintenance of shopping basket and site speed.
I registered with Fotango a couple of months ago as I didn't own a digital camera but needed some means of distributing photos electonically to family members around the globe.
I have had two films processed by Fotango. In both cases, the digital images were both available within an impressive couple of days of me mailing them. Return of the actual prints and negatives takes a bit longer (presumably they have to clear my cheque payment). I guess ... ...by credit card or debit card.
The quality of the prints is at least comparable to most other developers. And so is the price.
Good value for money, especially as you can view and distribute your prints electronically.
One annoying issue I have is concerning their website for reorders. Having made a couple of errors with my in basket, I found that the site was exceptionall slow when trying to remove items. You have to take things out of your in ...

Advantages: You can view prints before you order Disadvantages: Slow turnaround
I won a Fontango single use camera in a competition. Included in the prize was processing and printing. I've only ever used SLR cameras in the past and my expectations were quite low of this cardboard box. However I was agreeably surprised when I was notified that my photos were available to view online, and were then despatched. The quality of the prints was good, the camera had almost re-produced the image I had in the viewfinder.
I was also able ...

Advantages: Easy, reasonable price, good pictures, many features. Disadvantages: No cover over lens. Optical viewfinder is slightly offset and that can be tricky to line up correctly.
optical viewer,
the sample output appeared to be of a decent standard,
there’s a flash,
the camera can do close up (macro)
there’s a USB port on the camera should I need it.
The first question that I expect you would ask is are the pictures any good. The answer to that is yes. Using the normal compression on a resolution of 1280 x 960 produces jpeg files of about 310kb. I uploaded some of these to fotango.com and they produced perfect 5 x 7 photos for me. The other settings for 1280 x 960 produce files of 160kb (basic) or 610kb (fine) so I expect that I could get larger prints if required. The other resolution is 640 x 480 which is not good enough for really good prints but is more than adequate for email or putting on the web. You can mix and match resolutions on the same SmartMedia.
The supplied 8mb SmartMedia will ...
Advantages: A small, light camera which is easy to use, and also gives you the chance to further your hobby. Disadvantages: There is no such thing as a cheap SLR.
that and one of the smallest SLR camera bodies in the world at 135mm X 90mm X 58.5mm (if only they could lose that half a millimetre).
When combined with fotango.com (see my opinion on fotango.com titled ?Share The Moment? Dated 21/08/2001, And updated 11/09/2001), my photographic experiences are now so easy.
