Magimix 4200 - food processor
Review of Magimix 4200XL/18404 by
sianalrida
Advantages: Use it for everything in the kitchen
Disadvantages: You need extra space to store blade box
...for your money?
The Magimix 4200 comes in a large box with a handle, so easy to carry around if you are shopping (although a bit heavy so buy it at the end of your trip). The product comprises of 2 parts:
- the main food processor
- a separate plastic storage box for all the components.
The magimix has 3 bowls - mini, midi and a main bowl.
The mini bowl is a small bowl which can be used for things such as chop garlic, to make a salsa verde or ... ...As part of the magimix you receive a number of different blades:
- 2 metal blades (one large and one small)
- Egg Whisk
- Grating Disc
- Slicing Disc
- Juicer (for lemons, limes and oranges)
Also provided is a spatula to easily get the food out of the bowls.
I have used each of these blades. The grating blade gives uniformed sized grated carrot, apple and cabbage - great for coleslaw. The other blades also do what they say and I especially ...

Which model?
Review of Magimix CS 5200/18500/18501 by
Dinxy
Advantages: Magimix is slick, compact, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Gets scratched in dishwasher
This model is a great model, however i would recommend for occasional users buying a more compact model. This model's largest bowl will carry a huge amount of liquid, and is barely ever used in my house. The machine however is easy to use, and has a huge variety of attatchements for any occasion. I chose this model in white to save money, and i don't think the silver version (which my sister in law has) is worth the extra money as it requires polishing ... ...bleinding soups, making pastry, and chopping/grating vegetables. The grating attatchement is useful as it tends not to produce as much pulp as a manual grater, and when grating carrots for something such as a carrot cake, the carrot can be grated straight into the bowl, then the attatchment changed and the flour and eggs added straight. This product is essential now in my kitchen and i could not live without it. ...

THREE IN ONE
Review of Magimix 4100/16458 by
genesy
Advantages: Very fast and versatile
Disadvantages: Quite heavy
Magimix 4100 is the only food processor, that I know, which comes with 3 different bowl sizes.
The motor of the processor is in the base that is about 25 x 20 x 15 cm
The three bowls are stuck, one inside the other, over the base of the food processor, in such a way that is possible to use the small one on the top without removing the others, or remove the smallest and use the medium or remove the first two and use the biggest. The smallest bowl ... ...main courses, bread, cakes, desserts and many more.
All of the removable parts are dishwasher safe.
I bought the Magimix some time ago and I am not sure of the price, not cheap, but it is very versatile and anybody who enjoys cooking will love to use it ...

Mum was right about Magimix
Review of Magimix 5100 White by
wilson777
Advantages: Compact Robust Reliable Fast
Disadvantages: Cannot Replace all appliances, Clean blades with care
Magimix owners - particularly Mum - say it replaces most gadgets. With a small kitchen and a partner experimenting in the art and science of cuisine it seemed the answer to too many cooks in a small kitchen,
True it’s compact, in chrome it looks good even when left out on the worktop. It multi-functions -chops, grates, slices, mixes and everything ........almost.
It’s fast, great for coleslaw and cheese grating, and saves time as for many receipes ... ...and return to puree!
Magimix needs extra blades, which cost extra, but they last and stay sharp. The blades are easy to change but the metal ones need careful handling when washing. Washing the bowl and blades is best done under a running tap (to get into the niches) drying is more difficult but not impossible.
Our Kenwood Chef now lives in the loft. But we have found that we still need two appliances. A small mixer for cakes - we have found that ...

Fantastic time saver
Review of Magimix 5100 Chrome by
aimeelister
Advantages: Big capacity and so quick to work
Disadvantages: so many different attachments i can never work out what to use
I received this as a Christmas present after my parents saw me struggle with a hand whisk and I haven't looked back since. Dislikes
There are many different tools and attachments which come with the blender which claim to do a wide range of things. My only one problem is that the instruction book comes in 3 different languages which are set out both together in some sections and then separate in others. This makes it difficult to find out what bits ... ...can be slightly confusing and in some parts doesn't give as full information as I would have liked.

On the plus side (and there's many) there is a huge bowl capacity (3.7l) with the biggest bowl which is highly useful when im making soups so it all doesn't slop out the top when whirring round and you dont have to do it in several batches. The many blades are useful there is a slicing one (2mm) julienne one, 2 sizes for grating (2mm and 4 ...
