England 2002 World Cup
Review of The 2002 World Cup by PhilS

Advantages: Encouraging for the future
Disadvantages: Being knocked out at the Quarter Finals

...delete a review. Anyway, enjoy the review and all comments are greatly appreciated. Phil :) Before England could become part of the Japan/South Korea world cup finals of 2002, like most other teams they had to qualify. They finished top of their group, along the way picking up a memorable 5-1 away victory over Germany. When the groups for the competitions were drawn - England’s own group was described as the 'Group of Death'. We were drawn against ...
...Sol Campbell goal midway through the 1st half it seemed, as England would go on to win the game comfortably. But as the England team emerged to play the 2nd half they fell apart. Sweden equalised fairly soon after the half-time break and they got the better opportunities after that. In the end England were lucky to get a point out of the game. ~Argentina 0-1 England~ When England were placed in the same group as Argentina, the whole of England ... Read review

Half time Roundup
Review of The Cup by MarkKerr

Advantages: Only 16 team left
Disadvantages: is the glass half full or half empty

...here we are. Down to the real crunch stuff now - if you thought it's been tense before, get ready for a real roller coaster of emotion from here on in!! Lets see what’s happened to get us to this stage: On Friday 31st May France opened this years World Cup finals. This years finals saw 32 teams competing for the ultimate international football prize. These teams were: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, ...
...Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay and the USA. The opening game in Japan set the scene for what has become a fascinating 2002 World Cup tournament. The reigning World Champions France, as is the custom, opened the tournament with their Group A match against Senegal who were making their first appearance ever at the World Cup finals. France came into this tournament as one of the most fancied teams to win and retain the World Cup. Everyone, but everyone, ... Read review

a disgrace to football
Review of World Cup 2010 by sid

Advantages: nothing
Disadvantages: waste of money

...true. UEFA have fixed the World Cup bids up so well it is like a fairytale story. South Africa, have a few good rugby stadiums but other than that nothing special. The crime rate is dreadful, and the infrastructure poor. But, UEFA will give them the World Cup, because they will widen the game, but if they do then the bids don’t matter do they?. Brazil will vote for South Africa and next time South Africa will vote for Brazil. Politics at it’s worse. ... Read review

South Africa Wins The Cup?
Review of South Africa World Cup Bid by whitedevil

Advantages: Worlds greatest tournament
Disadvantages: Are you crazy?

South Africa recently hosted their English counterparts in a friendly game in Johannesburg to launch their 2010 World Cup bid campaign. Though they lost 1-2 to England, they achieved their aim of successfully launching their bid in a professional manner unlike Nigeria whom I will come back to. They made sure that a clause was inserted in their contract with England, which guaranteed that the most famous footballer in the world – David Beckham ...
...a lifetime. Back to South Africa’s World Cup bid, David Beckham openly endorsed their bid by going on worldwide television stating that he would support South Africa’s bid and would come back there to help them promote it if he is needed. The South Africans have managed to pull a masterstroke. Sponsorship from the private sector is in place as well as support from the most powerful men in World football who happen to come from Europe. ... Read review
