When I got this game, I bought it simply because I was going on holiday and needed something for the long flight there and thought I would buy it because I loved the football manager series for computer. I did not think it would be anywhere near as good as the computer version for 2007, but I thought it would do as I love these types of games.
Football Manager, as you would expect is a football management game. You manage your players training schedules, tactics, match day team talks etc. This game has lots of freedom in choosing what you want to do. First you start off by choosing which leagues you would like to play in and then choosing the team you would like to manage. If you are just a football fan then you may just want to go for the team you support wether it be a highly known team or a low league team with a small fan base. However if you are a person that fancies a challenge, you may go for a very low league team and try to get them as high as you can and see if you can raise their profile.
Once you have chosen your team, you then have your starting squad with a transfer budget, wage budget etc. You need to manage all of these budgets, your players, match day tactics and so forth. Being the manager can be tough as you have to choose what is best for your team and make it work, if this means bring in new talent and create a new team layout then you need to do it, in order for your team to develop. As you go through the seasons and become more and more successful you may receive job offers from other clubs and so you climb the ladder of success until you are at the top.
With this being a management game you need to know a little bit about football, but you also need to know and learn how to keep you players happy. One way to do this is to have an assistant manager handle certain aspects and report to you when they are becoming unhappy, then it is your job to make them happy so that they stay at the club and perform at a high standard of football.
When it comes to staff the assistant manager you choose is important as seen above, they handle many other aspects if you ask them too but they are important anyway. Other important staff members are scouts, these guys help you find new talent and show you how they are performing at the time, their attributes and this really helps when you are managing a team as you can see what you are missing and how to get around it with new players attributes. More helpful members of staff are the physios. These guys make sure that your players recover as soon as possible from injuries and also help to keep you players fit too. The main people for keeping your players fit though are the final important members of staff you are going to need are coaches, as these guys do training with your players, helping them to develop on the pitch and keep them in sharp condition. If you can get the right staff and the right players, you should be on the winning path.
This game is one that takes a long time to play, but can also be played in short quick periods too. The game itself goes on for a long time and can go on for decades as you move up the managerial ladder. However the load times for this game are short, and the matches can be done at a quick pace and so you can do multiple games quite quickly and so have a few games in a short period of time. However if you play the game properly and take it seriously, do the proper managing of the club then it will take a while longer. Also with 40+ games a season most likely, it will take quite a while to get through your first season.
Even though it can take a long time to get through the seasons this game is really addictive, just like the computer version. Once you start playing the game, it is almost as though you can’t stop until you have to. It is one of those “just one more game” type of games, and then you end up playing 4 more games =]. This is what is so fun about the game, it makes time fly and also with you being so hooked on the game, you feel as though you are the real manager and want to know what is going to happen to your team and what to make sure you do well and don’t get sacked. This is why the game has a fantastic game play time.
Graphics on this game don’t really count for anything, as you can’t see any of the action really, and so it does not matter how the game looks, however, the game does look neatly presented and does look smartly set out. The background look good and the player/tactics controls screens also look quite and are easy to use so this game is nicely set out and the graphics don’t look too bad.
Again, with sound, you can really count that in with this game. There is no real sound in the game, the crowd does not make any noise in this psp version, unlike on the pc. However you do not really need sound with this game when you really get into it. However it does quite dull when you are sitting in a quiet place for a long time just playing this as the quietness does get to you, so I would advise that you should have some form of music when you play this game =].
With this game having to play on the psp it does not have as many options on it as it cannot run as fast as most of the pc’s which the computer version is played on. As the game cannot run as fast it can’t have as many leagues available to run. The only leagues available on the psp version are: English Premier Division – League 2, the top two leagues from the major European clubs such as Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal etc, Scottish leagues and also the Australian leagues. There are still quite a lot to choose from there. Another setback to having less on this version is that there is less of a player database to scout.
The one thing that I really prefer about the computer version over this version, and understandably cant be in the psp version is the data editor. This allows you to create new clubs, players and stadiums etc. and this is a fantastic option that will have to be integrated into the psp one day I hope.
Like I said at the start, I did not think that this game was going to be all that great compared to the pc version and in all fairness it isn’t as good as the pc version, but it is a close second. I think that this game is still a must have if you are an on the go football manager fan. Although you are limited to the number of things you can do and it does not run as fast as the computer version, it is still an excellent game. If you have internet access you can make this even better as you can download the patches and also download extra for graphics, such as wallpapers and themes etc which add a nice little touch to this wonderful game.
I would recommend this game to all on the move football manager fans, sports fans, and even to the fans of tactical games as this does need the elements of tactical warfare (not so much warfare but it has the same idea =]). It is well worth the buy, but if you have access to a pc more, I would advise you think about playing that instead, simply for the data editor.
I give this game an 8.5/10 rating, well worth it for the price, as you can pick this game up for as little as £16.47 (without postage and packaging) on Amazon.
For those who would like to see the product features, they are as below.

...CM series, when I saw Football Manager 2007 for the PSP in the shops. The screenshots looked good, and I also took into consideration the positive things I had heard about the FM series. I therefore purchased Football Manager 2007 and could not wait to see if I could replicate my former success. Furthermore, I was keen to see ho much more convenient it was having a management game on a portable device.

These countries are predominantly European - England, France, Belgium, Spain, Germany etc, and then Australia. Advantages: Addictive, None of its appeal has been lost Disadvantages: Less leagues available than on PC
How could they put amazing PC game onto a crappy little handheld? That's what I thought when I first saw this game on the PSP. However after being bought this for Christmas (which I then had to play and act like I enjoyed it) I was surprised at how well the game held up. I don't really know why I didn't think it would be able to be adapted onto the PSP because thinking about it; it is not that difficult to do as long as you make sure the AI is good. ... ...typical managerial game. You pick the country that you want to manage in, you pick your team you want to manage and there you go as simple as that… almost. Of course then you have to choose you team. You can do everything from tactics and training to players and wages. This means that all the factors that allow you to win leagues etc are available to be chosen. This gives you a great deal of freedom to do anything you want. Game play

Basically any football team setup around the world can be copied into the game, so if Man U is your team then you can be Alex Ferguson.
Short recap then- GOOD:-
Game looks good, plays well, and is a long lasting game not just a day to complete one.
BAD:-
Can become dull and repetitive once all trophys and cups are won and as you become more wise and tactical in your gameplay. Thankyou for reading, Please, if you liked, please add ...
