Although the shin pads are for protection and not what they look like, as socks when playing football mainly hide them, it's an added bonus if they look good. ...Studs are not able to break or penetrate the plastic on the outside and the reinforcing and padding would give you extra protection if this did occur. Which I would be very surprised if it did, another point id due to the thickness you may need a size up in socks to cater for the thickness. You can get them in many different colours the ones I have got are the red and silver ones. They look impressive and would embarrass Umbro shin pads for the looks.
