mondeo 1.8 zetec w reg
Advantages: huge space inside. very well equipped, value for money Disadvantages: fuel economy
...really good looking 16 inch ford 5 spoke, but are low profile so a bit expensive to replace. a review on here said the seats on the mondeo can be uncomfy. i can agree with that. they are nice and soft but can be a bit annoying on the legs. cant pin point it just a bit uncomfy, takes a bit of getting used to. main fault i can see on this model is the power steering pipe can blow off the connector. probably quite rare but i noticed mine was missing ... ...the pipe covered in liquid, so at some point it must have blown off or leaked before i bought it. simple fix add a clip and tighten.
nice smooth ride with a super quiet engine, but can pull when needed and has a massive boot. lovely family car but has great looks.
for a car thats 9 yr old its holding its own in the looks department and for 900 quid its superbly equiped and should last me years. ...

Not recomended for high mileage users,1.8tdci mondeo edge 5door
Advantages: Stylish looks, mpg, comfort. Disadvantages: Dual mass flywheel, Interior carpet.
my personel experiance and opinion of this vehicle is as follows,
from day 1 the vehicle has had a missfire round about 1200 rpm, after taking back to dealer they finaly told me all the 1.8 models have the same problem but does not affect the running of the vehicle, the style and comfort of the car is second to none, after aprox 27k miles the dual mass flywheel had to be replaced with the clutch (under warranty) I am now on 80k and the flywheel is ... ...being used as a taxi, our taxi fleet have 3 mondeo 1.8tdci 57 reg and newer and all have had the flywheels changed round about the same mileage, also another problem we all noticed is the fitted carpet n/s rear is not fitted flush to the body of the car, when people get in and out of the car there feet push down on the carpet and it puts a hole in it,I have been told by the dealership that they are aware of the problem but not done a recall.
The interior ...

I maybe have damaged this by likening it to Tony Blair.....
Advantages: Cheap to buy, good standard of build, high spec, comfortable, totally reliable Disadvantages: Thirsty, wings turn nasty with age, brakes, image, bumpers are very brittle
...man polishing his shiny new Ford Mondeo, and saw him as a potential Tory voter. He was in his mid-thirties, had a middling income and owned his own house. He had a family saloon, a wife and two children.
“Mondeo Man” was the moniker Tony Blair attached to this group of middle-Englanders, and these where the people who ultimately moved him to ‘Number 10’.
I think this is backwards, the mk2 Ford Mondeo is a product of New Labour rather than ‘Mondeo ... ...the rest of the cars Ford where churning out in the mid-to-late 1990’s. The corporate oval grill and soft lines are typical of Ford’s design movement at the time, it was dated when it was released, and certainly hasn’t become any better looking over the past decade. On the mk4 Fiesta and mk6 Escort it led to an offensive looking front end, but the Mondeo, due to it’s larger size or other factors I don’t know, but the Mondeo is spared by not wearing ...

ST220 a real wolf in sheeps clothing
Advantages: Build quality, performance, high specfication Disadvantages: High tax brand, the look may start to date since the new model was released.
...A trip to my local Ford dealer and a test drive soon cleared the idea of any compromise. For a start there was the price, a pre-registered 07 plate with 15 miles on the clock and £10,000 off list price. It was a steal.
Running in took place over the next 3 weeks with a drive to Italy and back. 2,800 miles, averaging 31.5mpg and motorway cruising at about 80mph was pretty impressive. Even now it happily returns 27mpg under normal driving.
Performance ... ...locking wheel nuts as the Ford ones are a bit poor.
Servicing can be done quite cheaply by taking it to an independant garage. As long as they fit genuine Ford parts it doesn't affect your warranty. I was a bit lucky here as my local Ford garage has just gone independant so the guys know their stuff. You'll still need to use an official Ford dealer for any warranty work.
The only downside is the car tax at £300 for the year, but on the other hand ...

Everything you might need in one car.
Advantages: reliable, comfortable, spaceous, powerful, fuel efficient, smooth drive, very responsive, easy handling, practical, smart looking. Disadvantages: very common on the road
This car had come in very handy for my family. It can seat all five of us comfortably with enough room for all our luggage for going away on holiday and pull a caravan and even carry our sailing dinghy on top. Has not failed us yet, no engine problems, brake trouble, tyre trouble, exhaust problems or anything else. It has taken me to and from work for three years now almost every weekday morning. Diesel intake is good compared to other diesels, even ...
