Its got some front
Advantages: New dash,cd player, gearstick. Disadvantages: Not much faster thab the old model
The Ford Transit! I have a 56 plate T300 transit low roof standard model. To start with, the new dash and standard CD player was long overdue! The dash is now fitted with a digital mileage meter which is handy when I can't be bothered to go to the petrol station; it tells me that I need to top and how many miles it has left. There are more silly sized compartments than the old transit which is handy in some cases but I struggle to think what the ... ...and the larger ford badge and grill are a nice touch. Overall the transit is a work horse which never lets you down. Yes it's not the fastest van on the market and it also isn't the best looking. Dogs aside, the transit is a mans best friend. ...

Peter
Advantages: Can't think of any Disadvantages: Costly, and unless your buying newer vans then Ford is not interested.
...not interested. I phoned Ford customer service, and the same thing not interested. The funny thing is they would have done something about it had the van been younger than 8 years old, but since it wasn't tough luck for me.
No wonder the country is in such a state when small business owners are treated in such a way. I wouldn't take another Transit even if it was free. £2400 in 18months with the same fault, is more than my business can handle. ...

Ford Transit Connect
Advantages: good Door locking system fully removable rear seats 800kg pay load Disadvantages: no alarm as standard seats could do with a bit more padding
...lightweight approaches to the issue. Ford is not a company renowned for getting to market first, preferring to see which way the wind is blowing first. In this instance they've gone out and decided that industrial strength and versatile dual-purpose utility are the way forward.
In this corner of the market. they have the technology to bring this off. Any vehicle that's going to be used for lugging bags of cement or plasterboards has to have a diesel ... ...decent size. These two considerations have traditionally meant giving up any notion of refinement or driving enjoyment. Fortunately Fords latest generation TDCi common diesel engines render this dichotomy obsolete and make the Tourneo Connect viable.
the Tourneo Connect differs from normal window vans like Citroens Dispatch or Peugeots Expert by offering unmatched versatility. Not only are the rear seats fully removable, they can also be folded ...

Great load lugger for those in transit!
Advantages: Drives like a car Disadvantages: Cant think of anything
Car: Ford Transit 280T (new shape)
For: Drives like a car
Against: can’t think of anything
Value: Pretty good. You get one heck of a lot of van for your money with all mod cons in the cabin
Costs: Fuel economy is pretty good, even with a full load it will give 25mpg and will do better if you keep the speed down. Insurance is not too bad either.
Reliability: Pretty good really. If you look after it the likelihood is that it will outlast ... ...is as comfortable as any Ford car and there are three seats in the front. Driving position is comfortable but there is one niggle. I found the clutch pedal very high which made my leg ache. As for load space it boasts 4.3 cubic metres, which is more than enough to swallow the average load.
Image: White van man Nirvana
Security: Immobiliser, central locking and deadlocks. Separate locking system for the rear doors so that the cabin can be locked ...

Transit - New or old
Advantages: Its a Ford Transit Disadvantages: Its a Ford Transit
I have been driving ford Transits almost daily since I was 17 (I am 26) so when the 'all new' came out of course I had to have one, now whilst it surpasses the old shape transit in many areas I must draw your attention to the following points,
1. The gear box on the smaller (FWD) vans is terrible, the linkage is operated by cables and is sloppy and vague. My Y reg transit 260 has had three selector cables in 2 years, and the gearbox was re built ... ...All in all The Ford Transit is still in my opinion the best van on the road but the fact remains that although I own a 2001 Transit 260 2.0TD 75ps I do not drive it very often, my employee drives it, I drive my 1997 Transit 80 2.5Di Turbo 100ps which has covered 195000 miles because for me it is the better van of the two. ...
