This a great modern car I have been posession for for just over a week. They still look modern and sporty almost 9 years after their release.
I have the X pack with comes with leather interior and extras such as heated seats which are pleasant an bitterly cold winter mornings. The Cougar makes people stare, and I'm not exaggerating - they are still head tuners and their rarity means a lot of people don't actually know what they are. Ford should have retained a lot of this styling as it is great.
To drive the car is fast and handles well. It isn't a sports car in the sense that a Porsche is, but it is fun to drive and has the feel of an affordable sport. You're still going to pay more for similar cars of the same spec because of their rarity.I haven't driven the 2.0 litre version, but I imagine that it would be somewhat underpowered because they are fairly heavy cars, especially for Coupes.
The fuel consumption isn't as dramatic as I was expecting and as I had been warned - if you drive sensibly and cut down on unnecessary journeys and short runs, it's affordable to run.I'm aware that some parts are fairly rare and pricey, the tyres will cost between £70 and £120 each according to quotes I've done already and I've read that the headlamps (not bulbs) are £250 a piece. However, many of the mechanical components are shared with the Mondeo and the V6 engine is also many other vehicles.
I have the metallic blue version and I have had almost entirely positive comments from everyone that's seen it. I honestly am at a loss to why the car didn't sell better.
