I've had my battered little Escort since January 2000, and it's done me proud so far. Ok, I admit that the body work has seen better days, and that the interioe would probably look better without the 2 tonnes of teletubbie biscuits on the floor, but as a little run around it's brilliant.
It's an E reg, so it's knocking on a bit now, and it's certainly clocking up the miles. Having said that, it still starts first time, it's brilliant on fuel economy and as a mother of 2 kids, it's the right size for packing in the kids, pushchair, shopping, and an unimpressed hubby since we sold his mondeo (through lack of funds, not choice)
The good things about the odler Fords is that they still hold there value reasonably well - even though it's seen better days I could probably still get around £300 for it, which is pretty good in my opinion.
The parts are easy to come by too, so it's no major trauma if it fails it's mot as I can just go to the local scrappy and get thebits that I need.
