OK, I'm not rich and I probably never will be, but my battered little Escort that cost me £500 twelve months ago is still going strong and I'm happy with it.
Maybe I've got a wicked streak in me, but when I see people in brand new cars that have broken down, I have a little giggle to myself. My Escort may not look like the dogs doodahs, but it suits me. It doesn't use petrol like it's going out of fashion, it doesn;t do more than 85mph downhill with a strong wind but it's good enough for me.
Ok, so it's a bit basic. No electric windows, no fancy gadgets to make the seats move, no electric windows, but it does have all I need - ie: four wheels, brakes and a stereo.
The Escort is one of the most popular cars, and it's easy to see why. It's reliable - it'll start first time after being stood in the rain for a week. If anything goes wrong on it (which isn;t often) I can pop to the local scrapyard and get the bits I need for a few quid, instead of spending a fortune.
If you're after a cheap little run around that will last you, then go for an Escort. As a mother of two, it's all I need for running to the shops and back.
