. Perhaps you could do with removing the limiter if you lived in Germany, and it should then hit over 170mph.
2. Space - it's a 4 door saloon with a boot and the performance to match a Porsche Boxster 3.2S. Once you have kids, the Porsche is useless, but the Jag still suits.
3. Servicing - Jaguar main dealers charge huge amounts for servicing, so I have found an excellent independent garage (XJ Engineering in Bentley, Surrey) and the costs are in line with servicing a Ford Mondeo.
4. Insurance - My premium is only about 10% more than the insurance for a 1996 FordEscortRS2000 16v.
5. Road Tax - Pre-2000 cars are standard road tax - no massive bills like the newer 'gas guzzlers'.
6. Tireless driving - I can drive this car for 300 miles and get out feeling as refreshed as when I started the journey.

I myself own 2 fords,firstly a ford fiesta mark 3 which i bought as a first car and to learn in.My favourite car in the world at the moment is my other car, a fordescort mark 5 RS2000.BBS alloys,cobra sidewinder seats,leather backseat retrim,momo racing steering wheel,scorpion exhaust systam and green stuff road race brakes.Anyway onto ford,ever since buying my first ford i have become indebted to their reliability and quality of body work especially when passing the mot.I like to maintain the interior aswell as the exterior and have found it alot easier to clean up the car all round than when trying on other cars.The only problems with ford at the moment i would say is that they are losing their value quite rapidly and older generations of ford are becoming slugish which might indicate a low quality engine but not likely.I can ...

The Escort 1.6 Finesse was one of the last in a long line of great cars bearing the Escort badge, from the earliest MK1 RS1600 right up to the latest MK6 RS2000 and GTi models. When the last Escort rolled off the production line to be replaced by the Focus, Ford had been making Escorts for at least 25 years so you would think it would be fairly safe to assume that they would have got it right by then.
Well did they? I personally would have to say yes, they did. Although it's difficult to get that excited about (it is really a family car after all), the Finesse is a rather good little car which does exactly what it says on the tin perfectly well and a whole lot more.
