Ford Escort XR3

a few years ago i bought an escort xr3 convertible, on the advice of my partner, i never liked the look of the car it was a limited edition colour of half burgandy and half silver. The reason i bought it was that i was lost with out a car as i had just sold my nova gti a few weeks before hand. i got mixed reactions about the car when i took it home. My xr3i convertable is immaculate considering it is a F reg, 15 years old, I swapped it last year for a Peugeot 406 but I do miss my power steering,Although it is so old it has electric windows,mirrors,roof,and speaker direction and runs like a dream so I dont regret swapping but I have to buy a cheap run around for the winter so the xr3i can be garaged{to keep it in it's condition}. At 17 years old my XR3 convertible is still going strong. Its fast, fun and great to drive. This is surely a classic car of the very near future. The reliabilty is great with no problems starting even in mid winter and the automatic hood has never let me down. It can be a bit thirsty if you put your foot down for long periods, but in general is a sporty car with good milage per gallon, a comfortable ride and safe breaking and solid steering. Bought car for a cheap topless run arround for the summer months! Had to replace fuel lines, brake lines and a couple of wheel bearings! All what you would expect from a 1990 car! But cheap parts are a god send!!! Had some trouble with HT leads nothing major! All electric windows and electirc roof working NOT a quick car.Can not believe it is a sporty model it is so slow!!! Cause of the weight from the chassis as it is topless!! Who wants to go fast when the roof is down anyway! The insurance is knightmare stuff for a young male driver!!
