I bought a 2004 FX4, Supercab with a Flareside 6.5ft bed 4 years ago and have been using it every day out in the desert heat of Dubai. As the best selling truck in the States for over 30 years, it's credentials speak for itself.
As a daily trooper it has been completely reliable, with the only things needed to be changed on it being a new battery and a new drivers side electric window unit and I am now at 130,000km. Otherwise it has been faultless. My truck sits on 20inch alloys with some low profile Hankook 315/50/20R's all round as well as a cat back quad pipe sports exhaust system. The modifications allow the truck to corner a lot quicker than anything of that size should do and the exhaust system gives it a sound appropriate to it's size.
The 5.4 litre 24 valve triton engine is a solid block which on my truck kicks out around 315hp through the back wheels, with the option of the on the fly 4x4 electronic shift. There is more than enough power to light up the back wheels and cause some consternation at the lights to those drivers of much lighter so called sports cars. Pick up from the engine is excellent, with only a slight delay sometimes when the 4 speed automatic gear box confuses itself.
The Supercab layout has two huge captains seats up front with a 3 seat bench behind accessible through the suicide half doors. Kitted out in black leather, there is more than enough space for 5 adults to travel relatively long distances in comfort. The ride is always going to be 'truck like' as the old school leaf spring suspension at the back is outdated, albeit effective. With a 6.5ft bed there is also no weight over the back end so it can be a little skittish over bumpy roads - the low profile tyres have done nothing to improve the ride, in fact they have sacrificed what ride comfort there was, all in the name of a more aesthetically pleasing truck.
Even with the low profile road tyres, (totally unsuitable for off road driving) I have been off roading in the desert and with so much power on tap, it was devouring the dunes with relative ease, only a couple of times did the sheer length of the truck cause problems. I bottomed out twice with all four wheels off the ground and the shock obsorbers fully extended. However, the two tow hooks at the front were also invaluable in extracting other 4x4's stuck in the dunes as well as having myself extracted from my 2 predicaments.
The 6.5ft bed has been used to great effect to move about 10 of my friends entire housing contents from one to another. You can fit in a full dining set with 6 chairs along with other cabinets and the like. And for camping, I recently had a small motorbike, a full size BBQ, our tent, sleeping bags, wood for the fire, and 3 large ice boxes in the back along with a number of other small bits and pieces essential for camping. The bed just swallows stuff up - I would recommend the bed liner for anyone buying an F-150. I neglected to add this option and as such will be respraying the very scratched bed in the near future.
The F-150 combines the comfort and space of a saloon car with the ability to tow/haul enough stuff for 2 families. The engine is smooth and reliable and the interior offers masses of space and comfort. The standard audio setup is more than adequate for those of you that enjoy loud music and there is tonnes of storage space as well as the option for a roof mounted DVD system which can be moved on rails for your back seat passengers. The F-150 offers safety in it's sheer size and it's presence on the road makes other drivers think twice about doing anything stupid in front of you.
Fuel economy is never going to be great when you are driving a 5.4 litre V8, however, the variable valve technology means that when you are tootling around town you are only using 4 cylinders - however, this truck is really only a viable option in places where petrol costs less than water per litre!
Advantages: Power, Roominess, comfort. Disadvantages: Poor Gas Millage, expensive Maintenance
I drive an 2004 F-150 extended cab. It's got the 24 valve 5.4 Liter Triton V8. When driving this truck you can tell that it is built solid. There are no rattle, squeaks, or any other out of the ordinary sounds. The truck handles fairly well, with the rear shocks placed on the outside of the frame, it can take a sharper turn at slightly higher speeds. The interiors is well put together. It is very room for both the front and back. With a slightly ...

Advantages: matinence free Disadvantages: it doesn't run on water
I bought a new 06 ford F150 FX4 as a Christmas present for myself two years ago. I now have just under fifty thousand miles on the truck. I have to be honest, I love this truck. It has the 5.4 V8 engine on the fly 4x4, a six disc CD changer and the interior trim is chrome. Its a good looking truck.
It came with pirelli scorpion tires I made the dealer throw in as a extra. I only had one mechanical issue with the truck, which was a recalled part ... ...but I still had to deal with the inconvenience of taking it to the dealer and waiting for an hour on the weekend for them to replace the part. But I like my truck and would recommend a F150 to anyone. My girlfriend bought a 04 stx series its almost the same but the interior is carpet and she has the extended cab. We always fight about who's truck we are going to take camping. ...

Advantages: very Cheap, extremly friendly and polite, very helpfull, always have product in stock. Disadvantages: None
Since I bought my fordf150 I have always filled up my car at this petrol station, this is because they are always 5p cheaper then the rest, if you don't believe me then ask any taxi driver Who runs on LPG. They offer a great service and are very friendly. You can't go wrong.
There has never been a time that I have not been able to fuel up with LPG at this site , the service is second to none. The staff are very polite and extremly helpfull.
When prices for diesel and unleaded are around a pound a liter am paying about 43p a liter, I can comforbly drive a 5 liter engine vehilcle without braking the bank. The performance of the vehicle is in no way compramised.
Allround top service station. ...
Advantages: good fuel economy, high performance, sporty looks, and infinite buying options Disadvantages: speeding tickets
Puchased a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP edition just over a year ago ( April 2008). As a previous owner of a FordF150 pickup and a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 I had managed my share of fuel hungry workhorses. Initial goals when i made the purchase included higher engine performance, greater gas mileage, and a sporty look which i found in no short supply with the Grand Prix. Under normal circumstances i average 20 mpg town driving, and an easy 25 to 30 on the interstate (of which i have done in excess of 35 on flat trips). The supercharged 3800 V6 which comes stock on my GTP edition (the stock model comes with the standard 3800) is a road rocket, and i mean a top end speed nearing 155 ( i've done it) and a 0-6 in excess of any car within its price range. My model is a 2 door coupe and with the edition of some low profile wheels and tires ...

It's not like a Range Rover or an X5 type of 4x4-it's a working class hero. It gets its job done and is fantastic fun at the same time-it just has character-period
And that's what I look for in a car above all else
I've had the time of my life with this car. NOTHING could have done it more admirably-apart from maybe if I lived in America and could get my hands on a Dodge Ram 1500 or a FordF-150
Hope this helps someone! ...
