The car drives very well though the enjoyment is marred by the quality of the finish and dealer support. I will never buy another ford car in my life and would recommend to anyone considering buying one to look elsewhere (i.e not a Ford).

The tailgate went rusty and despite attempts by the dealer to rectify the problem, there is still rust seeping through.
The handle for the backrest has failed to operate the seat since the car was first delivered. 8 attempts by the dealer have failed to rectify this fault.
The first 6 months saw water leaking into the car via what the dealer thought was the windscreen. 3 windscreens later, it was discovered that the pollen filter lid was incorrectly fitted. The smell of damp still remains.
The color match of the front bumper was appalling and corrected under warranty.
The cassette player chewed up my favorite tape, was exchanged with a second hand radio, and after complaint was replaced again with the correct tape player.
The drivers armrest on the left fails to move from the stowed position and the left hand one cracked in week one. ************ General comments
The car drives very well though the enjoyment is marred by the quality of the finish and dealer support. I will never buy another ford car in my life and would recommend to anyone considering buying one to look elsewhere (i.e not a Ford).
Advantages: Cheap, economical, large number available Disadvantages: low residual values, common
The Ford Focus was the first car I brought, I wanted a car which is reliable, economical (25% increase in petrol price in the past few month !) , low on insurance cost and enough room for 4 people. After much deliberation I found that 4 different cars fit my categories. (Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and VW golf).
The Ford Focus is competitively priced in the used car market and I chose it due to high number of cars available. Although ... ...weak). The car does 400+ miles on a full tank. The handling is above average, there are plenty of space in the rear and boot. The ride is comfortable except on motorways, when the noise level increase. Still it's a good second hand car to own (for a few years at least).
The insurance for Focus LX 1.4 is also relatively low, I used online insurance company, although Tescos is also quite cheap. ...

...a coffee mug that says FORD FOCUS. In August i went back in and they apologized for the problems i had with my car and told me to pick out another car i would like. I chose a 4 door f150. 2 monthes after driving it, they told me to bring it back because they could not sell my car and could not get me financed. My car has been in the shop for over a month total, and in my contract im entitled to a rental car but i have probloms every time i go to ...

Advantages: cheap to run low insurance Disadvantages: very slow very common
I brought my ford focus 1.4 16 valve in 2005, it was Y reg (2001) with 39000 miles on the clock it cost me £5295 with 6 months warenty. I found it very spacious and quite responsive the only problem was it was very slow 0-60 mph took about 14 seconds but I was getting about 44 miles to the gallon so i couldnt complain. the model i purchased was CL so this was the basic but i still had front electric windows and central locking but no remote central ... ...2 hours of leaving the fore court! After about 2 weeks the coil pack of the 4th cylinder blew which involved the aa towing me back to vospers to sort it out but it was ready the same day covered by the warrenty. About 6 months down the line i ran out of petrol and had to get the aa out again and I was told that the focus Engine managment system shuts down the engine when you only have a bit of petrol left to stop the bits at the bottom of the tank ...

Advantages: Nice drive Disadvantages: Lack of space
I have to drive a Focus as it is the designated company car. I like the look of the Focus and was happy to change from the Escort which I had been driving for almost 10 years. That was until I actually got in it. I'm only 5'6'' but have to have the driver's seat as far back as it will go, leaving absolutely no room at all for anyone to sit comfortably in the rear. I also had to make sure that the baby seat was behind the front passenger seat so that ... ...tried to put the pram in the boot. The parcel shelf was tilted so much in order to get the pram in that my rear vision was nearly obscured. I next went grocery shopping for a large shop and when I tried to shut the boot I heard jars smashing.
However, on the plus side - I have never had any problems with the car breaking down or and faults occuring other than the normal wear and tear. (There are too many speed bumps where I live and the shocks get ...

Advantages: Good handling cheap to maintain Disadvantages: Poor pick up and only average economy
I bought my silver 2002 focus 2.5 years ago, mainly because of the low milage(less than 1000) it was the basic model no air con or alloys or cd player but tidy inside. There is enough room for 4 adults, (3 in the back would be a bit of a squash), the boot is fairly spacious enough room for a lot of shopping, I have had three sets of golf clubs in at a push. I had previously had an Escort 1.6 Ghia and the difference in performance was instantly apparent. ... ...takes an age to pick up speed and really struggles when it has any kind of load in it. The major dissapointment was the economy, I thought droppping down from the larger Escort to the Focus I would see a marked difference but if anything the Focus was worse. Now with £1 a litre petrol if I put £20 in I get around 170 miles. On the flip side I have hardly spent any money on maintainance, It went through the MOT last week just needing new brake pads ...

Advantages: Bargain, good all round, nippy car, Disadvantages: none
What a car. It has a list price of around £14000 but it is readily available at car supermarkets for just £12,000. What a bargain. For the same price as a FordFocus you can have a MERCEDES. Not only does the A class combine style, space and value it also offers a great drive. The 1.4 litre engine is a superb unit providing around 40mpg without compromising on performance. 0-60 is knocked up in around 12 seconds and a top speed of 110mph is more than enough. This care really does feel faster and sporties than the figures suggest. The sharp brakes and suspension make driving around town a pleasure.
The level of equipment provided as standard is superb - half leather seats, electric sunroof + windows, steering adjust, remote central locking, alarm/immobiliser, driver, passenger and side airbags, traction control, heated mirrors ...

Advantages: Great car, and a good price for it too Disadvantages: see review
The Polo is a strong reliable car that has grown up over the years, i started by owning an old (estate type) polo, and eventually upgraded to a 5 door 1996 polo 1.4, after the car was 11 years old (with no major problems) i unfortunately had to part with my car ( after a blown bottom gasket) i then went out looking for a replacement car, and after looking at a few cars for a replacement (fordfocus1.6 2003, Mitsubishi Space star 2004 all around £4,500 to name the best of them) i was walking past the Volkswagen showroom i saw the Volkswagen fox for £6602 on the road, I went on to have a look.
As the VW fox was too small for my family ( wife & 3 kids ) i told the VW rep that approx £180 to £200 a month was too expensive he said that he could get me into polo for approx £130 p/m so i decided to try it, i got a Polo 1.2 e for £148 p ...

Advantages: Reasonable performance, adequate room. Disadvantages: Competitors much better
as an extended trial.
The Astra is a very capable car and my first impressions were quite favourable. It is firstly quite well built and the driving position proved very comfortable and visibility was good without being exceptional. The seating and steering had all the necessary adjustments to make driving easy. The Astra I tested had a 1.6i engine which gave useful performance though the quicker 16valve version would have been better. Fuel consumption bettered 40mpg over the week in which the car was mainly used on short runs.
Overall though the Astra is not a particularly sparkling package, it was adequate and did nothing particularly wrong? it was all just too bland and dull. In this market it just does not have the looks of a FordFocus or a Peugeot 306 and for very little extra cash you could get a 1.4 Golf with practically ...
