The focus replaced the escort a few years back now, but has become more popular than it's predecessor which at the time seemed unlikely.
The car is big enough for a most families and has many good aspects, including a not too bad driving experience and a comfortable ride, probably due to independant rear blade suspension.
The fact remains however that the car has a large amount of wasted dashboard space and with button the size of a small clock to switch on the front fog lights it does not look attractive inside. The radio is also of a similar unattractive nature as with all fords with large buttons that make it feel like a childs toy. The gerar knob also looks like it has been stuck on and is completely misplaced. Altogether this car would not be worth buying in this price range, my advice would be go for a Golf if you want quality, but if you are not that bothered about having a top brand car, go for the 307 from peugeot which is a fantastic car, and will probably cost less too.

Advantages: Looks, handling, ride quality, refinement. Being different but still great. Disadvantages: Can Ford really have made a car so reliable? Why only 1 year warrenty then?
