Advantages: Truely excellant car. Disadvantages: Didnot have it long enough. Everyone got one
...my opinion on the lovely Ford Focus I hired last weekend to go and see my Nana down in Stafford.
I picked up my car last Friday morning and the first thing I notice was the numberplate Y*** WEE. This would be my first drive in this model of car and wondered if the ability of the car would match the numberplate. From the start my experience of the motor car was anything else other than stale. I can honestly say that this was the best ... ...or my current super deluxe Ford Sierra!
The car I hired was a 5 door 1800 Zetec Hatchback in burgundy with 8000 miles on the clock. The car had a fantastic ride quality and handled around corners in the wet like it had super glue on the tyres. One thing that really impressed me was the cars gear change. The clutch was very light and the change on the gearstick was very smooth and light, but still very positive.
At the start of this review I am going to let everyone know why little old me has been missing from ciao for a while. I am currently trying to tidy my house up, as it’s gone up for sale since Monday just gone. Since I am now married I am looking to move to a newer house, and my time is required on painting everything in site – This includes my pet Chinchillas is they would stay still long enough!!!. Hopefully I should be back to my normal crap opinions from the New Year!. *************************************************************************

I picked up my car last Friday morning and the first thing I notice was the numberplate Y*** WEE. This would be my first drive in this model of car and wondered if the ability of the car would match the numberplate. From the start my experience of the motor car was anything else other than stale. I can honestly say that this was the best car in the class I have ever drive, by this I mean I wont rate it against prestige cars like a Mercedes E class or my current super deluxe Ford Sierra!
The cars equipment levels were impressive with the following fitted to my model: -
Alloy wheels Electric front windows Power steering Driver and passenger front Airbags Air condition Traction control Remote Central locking which included automatic boot opener on the keyfob
The car was fitted with a standard ford car radio with a clip of front panel. The radio was very basic with only RDS being the only toy. However the radio sound quality did impress me.If you want to upgrade the radio, it will be expensive as its a odd size than normal radios, therefore a expensive dealer upgrade would be the only option.
The interior of the car was impressive; with nice seats that cradled you well. You won’t slide about in them while corning hard. The dash did take a bit of getting use to because of two strong lines that run vertical above the radio, but not parallel with each other(Hard to Explain but it looks weird!!). But everything on the car dash is easy to reach and has a quality feel about it. In the dashboard you have a lovely little ashtray which should get 0a design award. You also get two can holders which are build into the centre console.
Security of the vehicle hopefully is better than previous Ford models. I was impressed with the bonnet lock which in hidden under the front Ford badge. You need to use your key and turn it clockwise and then anti clockwise. This took me ages to see what the engine looked like! This would cut down on a something I hate…. There is nothing worse than when you buy a car to find that the bonnet cable is stretched and you cannot open the bonnet no matter how hard you bull the realise handle. I normally get so upset I pull so hard I end up pulling the handle out and hurting my hands! This is a small point but shows again that small details can make a great car.
I only had the car 3 days but during that period drove 418 miles for which it cost me £35, which means I got approximately 38 mpg on mainly motorways. Considering I did the same trip last year in my X reg. 1.0 litre Vauxhall Corsa and managed 45-mpg I was impressed by the fuel consumption of the Focus.
This car was that good, when we come to change cars next Year I will be serious looking at the Focus range providing that this model is not going to be replaced by a new generation model in the next couple of years
Advantages: Value for money, safe, reliable Disadvantages: Common as muck
...It shouldn't be allowed. Another Ford Focus review. Hasn't everyone in the country already owned one, driven one or read about them until they dreamt about them? Well...yes. But this review has an contextual relevancy to it: The new Focus has just been released, and as such the old one has gone from being the a great second hand bargain to the ultimate second hand steal. About a month ago, I bought a 1999 Focus 1.8 "Liberte" (a badge I have yet to ... ...green in colour and with a shade over 30,000 miles on the clock. The previous driver, based on the scratches on the bumper and body, was either blind or grew up driving a mini, as her (how sexist) style of driving was based very much on how the car felt. Against metal. Still, for something that was to be used bombing up and down the M1 and to be kept in a the student areas of Nottingham, flashy isn't desireable, and the scratches only served to reduce ...

...ago.My previous cars were a Ford Escort 1.3 followed by a Vauxhall Astra 1.3 then a Cavalier SRi. My most recent cars have been a Ford Sierra and a Fiat Punto. Yes I know what you are thinking my car choice can only get better. Up until now I rated the 2 vauxhalls head and shoulders above the Fords. In fact I once said that I would never have another Ford again! Anyway onto the present. The Focus has style and is somewhat a more interesting shape ... ...comes with Twin airbags at the front SUMMARY
Ford have got a winner with this car.The Focus is an ideal family, older person, younger person, and company car. This is due to Ford's success in putting together a great all rounder which appeals to more than most. ...

...the replacement to the popular Ford Escort, I must admit, I had my doubts. After years of 1980's domination where nearly every drive in the country had a Sierra, Escort or Fiesta on it, Ford were struggling to keep up with the cheaper and more reliable Japanese models that flooded the market in the 1990's. Ford were losing shed loads of money to its competition in Europe and still is. So was the Focus really the market saviour? Well, no, I dont think ... ...Interior. --------- Typical Ford plastic adorns the interior. All Fords smell the same. Plastic. The dash is very arty with its White Dials that are so common today. The stereo takes up most of the centre console and looks a nightmare if you want to install an after market unit. Thankfully the people who supplied the stereo, Visteon, have done themselves proud by making a half decent effort at the sound system. This is something Ford's have lacked ...

...We, or I, picked the Ford Focus based on price, performance and looks compared to Peugeot's 206 and VW's market leading Golf. The best part of this tale is the outcome; when we arrived at the dealership, there stood a magnificent specimen, the Metropolis blue 1.8l Zetec MP3, with delivery milage.
The MP3 relates tothe MP3 compatible CD player that comes standard on this particular model, along with 17" 7-spoke alloys and chrome exhaust tip. By burning ... ...the best bit of the Ford Focus. When I drive it, I drive hard, and I go fast, but when my mum is behind the wheel, she drives, well...., like a mum. And that's the beauty of our car, the transformation from responsible, well manored family hatchback, to aggressive boyracer cruiser.
This car may be common, and there is 5 or 6 on my street alone, but there is a reason for it. This car is good, and very well priced. Not to mention the list of extras ...

...the outset it's the best Ford I've driven. I had driven all the engine sizes from the 1.4 to the 2 litre as hire cars, and was most impressed by the 1.8. Hence the purchase. I was looking at buying a grey import, but was concerned about dealership support for the warranty. Instead, I plumped to buy a Ford Direct vehicle through a main dealer. It saved a huge amount of time to phone the dealers first and get a stock list faxed from them (you can get ... ...from Yac). However, one dealer tried to palm off a 1.6 as a 1.8 even when the paperwork showed it was a 1.6. Bye Bye.
The car's two most impressive attributes are the engine and the build quality. The engine is nippy, and although a little harsh when revved hard has quite a bit in reserve when, say, pulling out to overtake at 80. It's certainly noticably more powerful than the 1.6, but a bit thirstier too.
The gearchange is slick and the ratios ...

Advantages: Fuel economy. Insurance group, Engine power. Handling Disadvantages: Deprication value very rapid
Our car is just over a year old now and handles fantastic. The styling on the outside makes it look very sporty but with interior luxury. We had leather fitted as part of the manufacturers spec and that is a must. What a great idea on a cold morning to have heated seats!
The quickclear windscreen removes any ice so no more standing outside scraping.
Built in is a great deal of options from air con which can be controlled by temperature or manual and a six disc cd player. All buttons and controls feel in the right place and we recently drove down to devon non stop. I feel so comfortable and the leather even in hot weather is nice and smooth.
We have the 1.8 diesel 115ps model and the engine performance is superb. It has good acceleration when needed great fuel economy. I find the abs and traction control very good in bad weather. We ...
Advantages: High MPG, Comfortable, Quite and plenty of leg room. Disadvantages: Extra costs hidden in services
During the second years service (2006) the dealer discovered the scuttle cover was warped and needed replacing.
New scuttle cover / pollen filter cover was fitted, and anti-bacterial spray treatment applied - the cost was over £44.00. (Removal of the scuttle destroys the seal and it has to be replaced).
As the car is less than 2 years old I suggested it should come under a warranty replacement.
The dealer said I would have to take the issue up with Ford.
This I did and the Ford customer service department stated they have no history of there being a problem with the Focus scuttle cover, the scuttle cover is part of the trim and is therefore not covered under any warrantee agreement, and they would not honour any refund to me.
I said that I have the part that was removed and would be willing to send the part to them ...
Advantages: Great to drive. Great to look at. Very fast - never short of any power. Great safety features. Disadvantages: MPG around town.
I picked this car up December 2008. What an amazing car. Amazing to look at. And amazing to drive. It's very comfortable front or back. Lots of leg room if you're a rear passenger. Has all the safety features you want: airbags; ABS; ESP etc.
This 1.8i engine is quite fast if you push it. Even if you've got a cars full and a full boot. You're never short of power. Coming off a busy roundabout, especially. Add around 4000rpm then bring the clutch up, floor it, it'll push to 35MPH in 1st with no drama. The car can be heavy on fuel around town. I've tried to do as 'economy drive' as I could possible do, and I can only reach, according to car's computer, 29.2MPG. It went down to 28.8MPG the other day. But as soon as you hit the motorway, and cruise at around 65-70MPH, it will bring you back wonder figures. Around 45-50MPG. If you go over 70 ...
