! Picked it up on Monday 24 November 2003, very pleased with initial hand over. Comes in a variety of colours, my wife and I chose the Ink Blue mettalic (extra cost). The Zetec model seems to have most niceties fitted as standard, so we opted for this. Impressions so far, very refined ride, very quiet and definitely a step up for ford in the area of quality and finish. Gearbox is very precise and changes can be carried out as fast or slow as you want. Interior room, LOTS OF IT! It has the advantage of having a large boot area with the added advantage of folding/removable rear seats. The rear seating can all be adjusted individually, and you can opt for even more leg room if only accomodating 4 persons. Centre seat has full diagonal seat belt that retracts into the roof. Head room is plentyful, and should be able to accommodate 7 footers! Upholstery is plain side panels with inset silvery zig zag finish, it comes in 2 colours according to the paint colour.ie Dark has light upholstery & light has dark finish. TOYS, adjustable steering column, upwards & in & outwards. Intermittent variable wipers with the advantage of speed for front match the speed for the rear wiper. If the front wipers are on and you go into reverse the rear wiper automatically wipes. Built in computer, giving mileage, MPG, amount of fuel left in tank, average speed, low outside temp and for those of you that go abroad changeable miles to kilometres. The engine, comes in 1.6 petrol/1.6 turbo diesel, 1.8 petrol & 2litre turbo diesel. Rated at 110 BHP for 1.6's, 120 BHP and 136 BHP. Fuel consumption so far has been impressive, todate I am achieving 36-36.5 MPG. Mileage is now at 23,000 and engine seems very lively. Have just had the screen washer pump pack up, but this will be replaced under warranty! Security, full remote central locking with deadlocks. It has an interior alarm & you can specify perimeter alarm( extra). Engine immobiliser. Shielded door locks. Price wise, there have been some discounting on some of the models in the range and the LX and Zetec models are the ones to buy. Some problems have been encountered with the electronic parking brake fitted on the Ghia models but Fords are on top of this. Still the best engines to go for are the Diesels, the 2.0 Litre is a little flyer! Will keep you posted as to how the C Max fares in the future. Have now bought the focus hatchback as replacement (01/09/2007), but used the C max to go to Harwich in before getting it, carried 4 adults and luggage for a cruise and had room to spare! Had completed 30,000 miles before it went.

I like fords, i think they're reliable cars and the spare parts are reasonable. I'll consider this one when I'm choosing my own.

It seems to me that during the nineties Ford lost thier way a little. But as you and thousands more are proving, Ford are getting it very right at the moment. Good review.
