I have always been an avid book reader - mainly historical fiction. I am married with children and grandchildren. My husband and I love the highlands of Scotland and visit whenever we can (usually three times a year).

This is the first deisel car I have bought and I am very impressed with the savings on fuel that I have already made in the three months I have owned the car. My last car was a Ford Focus 1.8 ghia petrol hatchback so I thought I would try one with a boot for a change. The boot has bags of room and the car is slightly bigger than the hatchback. The main downside to the boot version is that I struggle to reverse (especially up-hill) as my vision is largely impaired by the high boot. The car is very comfortable inside and is roomy. The 1.8 is very nippy and just as fast as the petrol engine version. I would certainly recommend buying a diesel car for the fuel savings alone but I have found the Ford Focus is an excellent car anyway. Someone driving a large van slammed into the side of my last Focus car and the damage outside of the car was extensive but the inside of the car was fully intact as was I and my passenger - full marks to Ford for safety features. Another useful feature is cruise control - very handy for the motorway.
