...Firstly , let me apologise. Please don't expect a technical review from me, this is written from a mum's point of view and not of Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. I am a bit of a closet Ford fan. I have owned an escort popular, an XR3, a cabriolet, and a Sierra 2.0 Ghia. When the children came along it was to expand our car capacity so we bought our first Galaxy. I owned my 1997 Galaxy since almost new and even though it had only reached 50,000 on the clock, we thought it was time to trade up and change to a diesel engine. I wasn't expecting to get a brand new car but by chance we did. It was at the cost of no holiday and no more savings in our account but at least I've got a good set of wheels that hopefully will not let me down on my various trips down the M3. ...Our first experience of a Ford Galaxy was several years ago when we hired one for a family holiday. We could not believe how comfortable and spacious they were, even with 6 people in the vehicle. We decided to purchase one of our own a few years ago. We got one used from a dealer where it had only been used as a fleet car and had only done motorway mileage. These vehicles are so spacious and the beauty is that you can remove all the seats. It comes in really useful if you have to transport something on the large side. The two front seats are known as captains chairs, and have armrests. You can also swivel them around to face the passengers behind you, so if you are on holiday and the weather is not so good, you can picnic inside the car. ...Well this is the Third Ford galaxy I have had spanning back to the first model that was introduced to the market place, The basic phenomenon hasnt changed of providing a MPV that drives like and looks like a car not a van as so many do. ( I should know i spend all day in a van). The kids can have there own seat and this leads to very little fighting and squabbling, the boot space is functional but if you have a car full and need plenty of space this can be a bit challenging unless you have a roof box. The engine on the 1.9 that we have is the 115ps version, with the six speed gearbox it will cruise all day quietly comfortably giving you 55mpg.
