I've been reading around the site and think it's time to attempt a second review, I can now see that my first one was a bit short and lacked some detail so here goes.

I bought my blue Ford Ka back in February 2005 and wouldn't swap it for the world now. At first I was a little worried as I'd been used to a bigger car (a Focus) and didn't know how I'd manage to get all my shopping in or how fast it would go!!! Yet I've come to realise that it's the perfect car for me as it's main advantages are that it's small so easy to park, cheap and to insure and cheap to run, what more could I ask for!!

There are 6 different variations of the Ford Ka available but they all boast power steering, anti lock brakes, a driver's airbag, immobiliser and opening rear windows.

Ka Design which is the basic and cheapest model and starts from £7,095, it has the smaller engine of 1.3 litres.

Ka Style is the next one up from the basic and starts at £7,595, in addition to the basic model it also has power windows, a better grade radio & cassette player and also coloured bumpers (the basic one has black bumpers).

Ka Collection is the model I have and starts at £8,595, in this model you get everything the same as the Style model but also there's a CD player, electric windows, leather trimmed wheel & gear knob and central locking.

Ka Luxury is the best of the best really and starts at £10,295, as luxury suggests it has everything that you could really want in your little car including leather seats, alloy wheels and air conditioning.

(Prices quoted are from the Ford website)

They've also brought out a limited edition Ka Sublime which is slightly more expensive than the Ka Luxury and also the StreetKa but neither of these are really relevant for this review.

My Ford Ka is blue in colour and comes equipped with body coloured bumpers and wing mirrors as well. I really like the shape and size of the car, it's easy to park in almost any space. My only dislike of the outside of the car is that it does resemble a bubble to some extent in shape!

The interior of the car is unexpectedly spacious, I'm nearly 6" and my partner is over 6" yet we can both sit comfortably in the front of the car. The back isn't quite as roomy though and strapping our 4 month old daughter into her chair can be quite an ordeal. When my friends have sat in the back I've often had to move the front seats forward to give more leg room so I wouldn't suggest this as a family car by any means. Luckily my partner has a Range Rover so we can all fit in that!!! The boot is also quite small in the Ka.

My Ka has a 1.3 litre engine and the petrol tank can hold around £30 when filling up completely. On a full tank I can normally get about 240 miles out of it so it's pretty cost effective really, and that's doing a mixture of journeys including the motorway and smaller rides too. Speed wise it's not the best at accelerating quickly and does take a about 10 seconds to reach 20-30mph from stop. I find on the motorway that if I do above 75 mph the engine does start to make a louder noise and from 85 mph it really does struggle so this isn't a car for anyone who likes going very fast. The other bonus with the car is insurance, I'm with Tesco and have been driving for 5 years now and my insurance is just over £400 a year which is good going I reckon.

I've never had any problems with the car at all except for when I bought the car, the second day of having it the electrics went inside the car, inside lights, radio, etc. but I took it back and they fixed it straight away and ever since then it's been fine.

These are great city cars which I think hold there price better than most. A two door with kids (or just the one) is a nightmare which may well wear you down in the end.Good review...chris...
