I liked the Ka as soon as i saw it because it seemed to be the natural successor to the beetle and Morris Minor, it has that cute but purposeful shape. The test drive went well enough so I got one. If you go as far as a test drive, take it out of town on a dual carriageway and give it some hard work. Up to 40mph its fine, it accelerates well and is easy to drive. Above 40mph and on a motorway its just plain boring. No guts, lifeless and cramped. Its a small car with a 1.3 engine so why does it feel so underpowered? Fuel economy is ok if you drive very carefully but not anything to write home about otherwise which makes the lack of power even more of a mystery. And why do Ford insist on putting in the new radio with only fm band, we aren't all early twenty somethings listening to dance music! Boot space is very limited, try getting baby's buggy in there, or even more than 4 shopping bags. Its alright designing a good looking car but it must have more than looks for enjoyable long term ownership. I know its designed as a city car but most of us will use it for long journeys from time to time. I'm not impressed and won't have another.
