Ford KA 1

Advantages: Handling, reliability
Disadvantages: lack of luxuries.

I had this car when my Ford Mondeo was getting a new rear axel and it did the job very well. OK, the take off speeds weren't that good but the handling was great. I don't own the car anymore as I gave it to my friend who had just passed his test and I got back my Mondeo. Sometimes I wish I ad kept it and sold the Mondeo as it was very unreliable. It started first time every time even below 0 degree's. It was VERY good on petrol. About 40-45 miles per gallon. In the month that I had it I never needed to top up the oil or anything. The only problem was the tracking, but looking at the left front tire it had been curbed quite a lot by the previous owners. I would recommend it to anyone. My friend still has it and is very happy with it. ...

Ford's KA - Luxury

Advantages: Great economy, luxury trim, cute car
Disadvantages: A bit slow

I wanted Mrs mfhome to get an MGF or something more "fun" but I wasn't too worried when she decided on a Ford Ka, I'd always liked the styling and her choice of the luxury model meant that I would have all the extras to play with too. The Ka has been a popular little motor since 1996, ours is the Luxury model which we bought new on 51 plates in 2001. The car had great looks with its colour coded bumpers and mirrors, alloy wheels and metallic paint - I think these features are extra cost options on the other models. I don't suppose that they're necessary on this car as it looks good in standard trim. However, given a free choice between a car that is colour coded and one that is not I prefer the colour coded. The car's motor mechanics are based on some of Fords older models; frankly I have found the performance disappointing. Mrs ...

Ford KA 1.3

Advantages: Looks, Interior, Reliabilty (besides airbag)
Disadvantages: Airbag, pre1998 cars, back space.

The Ford KA, officially an icon for Ford. The Ka was introduced in 1996 and my girlfriend bought the 1998 KA 1 model as her first car. It was obviously a 3-door model (the only option) but it was in a weird colour, it looked like brown, grey and silver mixed into one, but it was listed in the logbook as grey. The KA was originally designed to only have black plastic bumpers so in the event of a minor crash they could easily and cheaply be replaced. This model has the black bumpers, but having done 72000miles upon purchase they had done a feint grey colour and although the black bumper/trim polish is easy and cheap to buy from Halfords or anywhere, I would recommend (if you can afford it) to buy a colour coded one as they just look better and don?t have to be repainted even if the car doesn?t need it- as the black ones do. I ...
