This Ford Puma car was my beloved pride and joy that I used to love driving around the place however a pregnancy and a car that could fit a car seat meant I had to get rid of this joy of motoring delight as it just wasn't going to be suitable for a small baby and child been driven about in. What does it look like outside? ********************************** The Puma that I drove was a Y registered car and one of the things that attracted me to it was its beautiful sleek lines. The Puma sits on Fiesta underpinnings which does not sound very glamorous I know but what this does is give the car a ... more

FORD PUMA 1.7 16v Exterior On first impressions the ford puma looks like a sleek coupe, and that is exactly what it is. The shape is curvy and stylish and the body sits close to the ground. My Puma is Medium Steel Blue in colour which can be seen in the attached images, and is a 1.7 standard car. However Ford made 4 different types of Puma and they can all be found on the road. The standard 1.6 16v (which replaced the 1.4) or 1.7 16v range were produced between 1997 and 2002. They are available in the following colours; Moondust Silver, Colorado/Radiant Red, Panther Black, Medium Steel Blue ... more

You might be thinking why an opinion on a 1.6l Puma has been written under the 1.7l heading? Well, after requesting a heading for the 1.6l, I'm still waiting. So what about the car? Body wise, it is identical to the 1.7l version bar the engine. Suspension, brakes and interior are identical. The 1.6l produces about 15bhp less than the 1.7l version does. What does this mean in the real world? The 1.7l version will get from 0 to 60 in just under a second less and has a higher top end. In practise, most people do not take advantage of the additional power to spring them from 0 to 60. The power is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nippy, fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages No boot space or passenger space

When my husband bought this car I was rather irate. £13,000 spent on a small tin box with four wheels seemed like a waste of money. However, on the quiet I really do quite enjoy driving it! THE CAR The car is small but sleek and sporty looking with only three doors. The boot, however, is miniscule and inadequate for even a main food shop (this is made even harder when your husband leaves everything in the boot – golf shoes, squash racquet, old Christmas cards, Telewest cable box – you name it!). The lights are another grumble of mine. The full beam gets full marks, as it is ... more

Firstly I must apologise if you’ve already read this opinion. I have reworked it for two reasons. Firstly as my second op I felt it wasn’t as good as I could make it, also if I edit it now I can submit it for the review your current car competition ;). I have tried to make it different enough. I bought my Puma in September 2001. It was 11 months old then and I paid 10995. I was fed up with my silver/grey Cavalier with its blue door, and at the last service the cav was starting to need some mechanical replacements – see my op on it for more details ;) The time was right for me to buy a new car ... more
