I purchased a Ka this time last year. This was my first own car as the rest of the time I had been driving my parents cars. As it was my first car to buy, I was a fore front of heavy sales pressure. As I was looking around the cars, I had a sales person come up to me and tryed to sale me a car, but I had a good idea what I wanted. For some reason, they wanted me to go for a feista, yet i new that it is more expensive to run and insure, although it is cheaper to buy.
As I only was looking at a KA, they went out there way to find me a second hand one that was in good condition. Two days later, I received a phone call from them saying that they had a car for me and did I want to look at it. As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it. They cleaned the car up and did necessary work to it e.g. taking a few scratches out and a chip on the window screen and away I went after signing the forms.
Normanly you can tell when the dealership looks after the customer by the way they are treated in the beginning, but if you know what type of thing that you are wanting to buy, then they will help you more rather than presurising you into buying a higher priced car so that they get more commision. There has been no need to go back to the dealership to sort out any pronlems at all and I will definitely go back there.
I think a lot of it now is that the market is so competitive that the sales person has had to change its way of trying to sell cars. Most dealerships will bring there prices down on cars in order to acheive a sale, but the best saying that they always will have is "if you dont buy it now, then it maybe gone by tommorrow". Which in some cases may be right, but people still have to get a test drive sorted, as well as finance for the car etc, etc. But a car is not a decision that you would jump into, you really need to think about it and the long term running of it.
When I looked at the purcahsing the car, I looked at all work done to it by the previous owner. The car had been well looked after with every MOT passed and no work required to it and was serviced every year. Today was the first time that I actually MOT'd it as I have had this car for a year now, and it passed with not one problem, and I am having it serviced as well. The only problem that occured from the dealership was that they forgot to send me a reminder about a renewal of the MOT and service, but if you now when things are going to run out, then there should be no problems.
I always have beleved that if you treat a car with respect, it will treat you with respect and therefore wont cost you much in the long run.
This car has been well worth the money so far and I will continue to purchae vechiles from there in the future.

Thanks for the great op, as you can never be too sure about second-hand car sellers.
