I used a Forddealers when I used to own a Ford Escort a couple of years ago. Thus I thought I would get good service already owning a Ford as the expertise was there.
I discovered a strange scraping noise coming from the back left wheel of my car which was getting louder and louder. I took in to Ford and they took the wheel off and had a look. After 10 minutes I was told that I need new brake pads, shoes and hub. The cost - 276. I agreed to the work, but then found that the noise was still there. Upon checking again they found that it was a a bolt from the alloy wheels catching against the handbrake spring. The must have noticed that the minute they inspected it as I did immediately when they showed me ans spun the wheel to demonstrate. However they told me that the work needed to be done anyway.
On the positive side the brakes were corroded and the did the job because of safety. On the negative side the didnt tell me the whole truth to get more money out of me.
It sounds like an honest mistake, seeing the brakes were worn and needed replacing they looked no further for the knocking. However they should have tested the vehicle afterwards. At least you got your brakes fixed, could've been nasty otherwise.
Dear Sir, Thank you for this sound advice. I do not have a car, personally, but should I ever own a ford Escort and hear a noise coming from the back left wheel, I shall certainly heed your advice. Thank you again. Yours sincerely, your friend, Grace.
