"Forever Changes (Re-Mastered ) Love"

Its fair to say that you would have to have at least a passing interest in the psychedelic era to be interested in this record ,but if that,s already established and you havent heard this timeless
beauty then now is the time !

The legend of Love and Forever Changes has grown steadily over the last 35 years or so ,from hard to find obscurity to expanded and celebrated masterpiece ,if youve heard anything of this album then it would almost certainly be the opening track "Alone Again or",with its Mexican flavoured climax awash with trumpets and Spanish guitar ,this however does not typify the rest of the album though its constituent parts do shape its sound ,"A House is not a Hotel"comes off the blocks with a guitar powered sprint and sparing trumpet with the whole thing coming to an abrupt end following a viscious two note guitar solo, this is no ordinary record and by the time you get to the sad ,regretfull tone of "Andmoreagain"(sic)you will be intrigued by the musical twists and turns where nothing of what youd expect takes place ,always falling a chord or a middle eight short of convention.

On intial listening the overall sound isnt a million miles away from standard hippy acoustic meoldic fair ,but its whats going on behind the music thats makes this album special ,even the prettiest tunes have a unnerving menace about them ,shaped by the darkness of that eras excesses (Drugs Vietnam,Racism)
and the abstact thinking of head honcho Arthur Lee,this circumstance informs all of "Forever Changes " even down to the titles "The good humour man sees everything like this " being a prime example ,but if you could handle some gorgeous acoustic songs embellished with a unique orchestral twist then you will grow to love this record, imagine if the Moody Blues had met at borstal ,then your nearly there .

If youalready know of Love and just want to update your collection then i suppose this is the version to buy, expanded by a further seven bonus tracks of alternate takes and mixes ,it s these which deconstruct the records original beauty and make one even more aware of how good "Forever Changes "was in the first place .,Arthur Lee died this year happy in the knowledge that his mostly ignored classic had in its own time, become acknowledged as one of the greatest records of all time ,so if your at least a little curious find out more and pay a small price for a beautiful secret.
