One fossil fuel we CAN consume!

Advantages: Yummy
Disadvantages: Calorific

Have you guessed yet you're not likely to find many reviews on healthy food from me?! Can I just say thank you to Asda who have just had an amazing offer on Ben and Jerrys, with all the flavours they stocked at £2 a tub. No not a mini tub, a proper full monty sized tub. Obviously I couldn't believe my eyes as they're usually closer to the £5 mark, so justified myself in buying three tubs - how can you choose between the delicious flavours? I bought my favourite Phish Food, Cookie Dough, always a winner, and not having tried Fossil Fuel, it looked my kind of icecream (and it has little dinosaurs - aww!). It's easy to spot in the freezer, as it's in the usual B&J tub, but it's bright yellow with pictures of choclate dinosaurs on the front. I'm making a considered decision not to include nutritional information, because if ...

Review of Ben & Jerry's Fossil Fuel

Easy to use book for those who like fossils

Advantages: clear descriptions, easy to use
Disadvantages: none

As I am a bit of a geek, and enjoy anything to do with fossils, I decided to get this book. After spending a while looking at various different books on the subject, I decided on this one as it has lovely clear pictures and clear descriptions on many different fossils. There is an introductory section in the book that includes things like:- +geological time chart +where to look for fossils, and then collecting them +how the book works The introductory section has been helpful, as I would not have had any idea where to look for fossils before looking in this book. In the main section of the book the different types of fossils are split into three main sections-invertebrates, vertebrates and then plants. These are then split into further sections of particular groups of plants and animals. I think that the way these ...

Review of DK Handbook: Fossils - David Ward

A watch for the 21st century

Advantages: Technical features, no batteries, accurate, good looking, Japanese
Disadvantages: None at present

I once took my battery operated watch to a well known high street jeweller to have the battery replaced, I was told it would only take 5 minutes & cost £4.99, it actually took 30 minutes & cost me £9.99 as they had problems with the battery. When I took it home the small stop watch function wouldn't work & the built in alarm didn't work either. I took it back & explained it was OK before they touched it, but they refused to accept liability so I was left with a watch that never worked properly again. On another occasion another jeweller presented with a different watch stated that the movement was faulty & would cost approx £75.00 to replace, I left the shop & purchased a battery for 99p from Maplin, fitted it myself (this one had a small slot on the back to access the battery) & has worked perfectly since. To say I have lost faith ...
