So why is Foster's my lager of choice? Well before I can tell you I just need to open another one…..
Ah, that's better….
I have just taken this can out of the fridge and it's ice cold. Condensation glistens on the outside. Never have a can that hasn't been chilled. There's nothing worse than a warm lager. At 36 you would have thought that I would have grown up. But oh, no I still like to believe that I am still 18 years old. Is this why I never ever drink wine or the occasional G&T? Maybe. Instead my drink of choice is a nice cold lager.
I think that this is probably due to the fact that from the age of 19-31 I ran pubs and at the end of a hard night, a nice cold pint would go down a treat.
Now there are loads of different lagers out there. You can chose from a premium one, a weak one, one flavoured with lime, shops own brand, an extortionately over priced bottled one, or if you are like me why not sample a can of Foster's?

Ah, that's better….
I have just taken this can out of the fridge and it's ice cold. Condensation glistens on the outside. Never have a can that hasn't been chilled. There's nothing worse than a warm lager. When you pop open the can a faint aroma of the Amber nectar escapes. As I am feeling quite sophisticated tonight (and because I am writing this review) I have decided to use a glass. Holding the glass at 45 degrees, I gently pour the lager down the side. Slowly I move the glass upright as I pour to ensure that the amount of froth is just right. I can't stand a pint that has a head that half fills the glass or alternatively has no head at all. This is just spot on. The Foster's is a nice golden amber colour, hence the phrase the amber nectar. A few bubbles fizz to the top.
Now for the taste test…..
Firstly you will notice the slight fizz in your mouth. Not as fizzy as a can of coke, but just nice. Then the taste grabs you. Foster's has a nice bite to it but does not taste a strong as other lagers do (for example Kronenborg). It's a smooth taste of wheat and barley and one that lingers in your mouth. It is surprsingly refreshing.
As you drink down the frothy head clings to the outside of the glass and bubbles continue to rise. Far too quickly though, its gone and another one needs to be opened.
At least with Foster's I know there will be no hangover as it is not as strong as some other beers. I doesn't make me aggressive (what ever you do, never give me Kronenborg!) and I have never fallen over after a few of these (Stella!!! What happens when I drink that? I just seem to loose control of my legs when I do.)
If you, like me, have the odd pint now and then, give Foster's a go. Just make sure it's nice and ice cold.

The Foster Brewing Company was established in 1888 in Victoria, Australia and was an instant hit with their bottled Foster's which went down well in the extreme Australian heat.
It could have all gone so wrong for the company because they actually struggled like many other companies during the recession that ...

...the Fosters Brewing Group.
Foster's is a bottom fermented lager beer based on the Germany style. When poured it produces a thick creamy head and has a hoppy taste that is not very over elaborated, which is usually not the case with German beers.
It is relatively light bodied and crisp. Not to strong and not to mild. Just right you may say.

Advantages: goes down easily, great from draught, really refreshing Disadvantages: none
I’m no Beer expert. I can’t tell you what strength a certain beer or lager is. There are those Real Ale Buffs who can cite the ‘original gravity’ and the type of hops used to brew that certain beer – plus the history of the micro brewery that it comes from.
Sorry, that’s not me.

There are days when only the best will do. You’ve had a busy day. It’s warm. You’re thirsty. Let’s face it, your throat feels like the inside of a dingo’s ball sack. You toddle off to your nearest friendly hostelry and they offer you a huge range of designer beers, then there are the draft beers on offer. From the ...

Advantages: Light taste, goes down well, popular Disadvantages: Butt of a lot of weak beer jibes
Fosters is reknowned as an Australian beer, despite being brewed right here in the UK! Although it is originally from those parts, it has been adopted into the pubs, fridges and hearts of many a lager drinker over here.
I tend to drink either this or Budweiser when im out. Bud, if it is a "bottle" drinking night or Fosters if its "pint" night.

Started in 1888 The Fosters Brewing Company was formed in Melbourne by 2 brothers who had left America in search of fortune. Soon their beer was a big hit with the Australian people who apreciated its cold-served style in their hot climate. By the early 1900's however, the brothers ...

My apologies if my title is offensive to Australians, they are not all barbecue kings! They have however, given us a fine lager and for that I will forever be in their debt!
The Fosters Lager Brewing Company was set up in Collingwood (near Melbourne in Australia), by W.M Foster and totally unrelated R.R. Foster in 1888. Having arrived in Melbourne in 1886 accompanied by a Brewing expert and a refrigerating engineer, thier intention was obvious from ... ...that these Americans soon sold the business and moved back to New York. So contrary to popular belief, Fosters could possibly be conceived as an American lager!
By 1901 it was sold world-wide, but didn't reach England until 1975. The British were used to drinking beer at room temperature and it took a while to convince the average drinker that beer could be drunk cold. But it has certainly caught on now and is certainly one of by favourite tipples!

WE HAVE BEEN REGULAR VISITORS TO VARIOUS HARVESTER RESTAURANTS OVER THE YEARS. LAST NIGHT WE HAD OUR WORST EVER EXPERIENCE AT HARVESTER AT SHOREHOUSE, NESS ROAD, SHOEBURYNESS, ESSEX AND WE WON'T BE GOING BACK. WE ALSO HAD A MEAL THERE ON NEW YEARS DAY WHICH WAS VERY POOR AND WE LEFT MOST OF IT. WE PUT IT DOWN TO THEM BEING VERY BUSY AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER GO LAST NIGHT 24/1/09.
ON ARRIVAL IN THE BAR WE WERE TOLD THE ONLY LAGER AVAILABLE WAS FOSTERS AS PUMPS NEEDED CLEANING ON ALL OTHER LAGERS. THE FOSTERS WAS THEN SERVED TO US IN DIRTY GLASSES AND HAD A STRANGE TASTE AND SMELL. ALL THE GLASSES WERE STACKED ABOVE THE BAR AND WE TRIED TO SPOT A CLEAN ONE BUT COULDN'T. THEY WERE ALL SMEARED AND STICKY AND THEY WERE HAPPY TO DISPLAY THEM THAT WAY. WE PROCEEDED TO THE RESTAURANT AND NOTICED THE CUTLERY ON THE TABLE WAS ALSO DIRTY ...

A later addition to the label is the temperature sensitive blue star. Newcastle Brown is definitely better drank cold so at twelve degrees C the star starts to turn blue.
For a while I stopped drinking Newcastle Brown and even now when I go out I drink FostersLager (See my opinion), but for drinking at home it is now nearly always Newcastle Brown.
Although you can taste the hops in the drink it is not a very bitter taste, but a smooth taste that is not too gassy. The taste of the malt lingers in the mouth and overall makes this a very refreshing drink.
I like to sit down after a meal and have a pint of Newcastle Brown to gently drink as the meal digests. This is normally followed by a short nap.
Newcastle Brown is a drink that most people will have tried at some time and some people may ...

settled for breaded plaice with chips and peas. I am a great lover of fish, and I never make chips at home so I occasionally like to have them when I am out.
When I'm with my son I usually ask him to go to the bar to order, as at just under five foot two I'm always afraid I won't be noticed! But on this occasion I went myself. The gentleman on my right ordered and paid and stayed at the bar, so I edged my way forward. The bar tender was not over friendly, just matter-of-fact. He warned me that there was a thirty-minute wait for food, but we had time and could chat over our drinks, so I told him that would not be a problem. I ordered the two meals plus a J2O Orange and Cranberry and half a pint of Foster's lager. I think he should have asked if I wanted ice in the J2O, but he half filled the glass with it and I was only just in time to point ...
