Review of Fostex PD-4

Mark who? - MG marks explained - I hope!

Advantages: It's an MG - need I say more!
Disadvantages: MkII not as valuable/sought after as a MkI

actually designated '3rd series' as successors to the 1st and 2nd series MGAs. And in any case the 'MkI' name only came into colloquial use when the MkII (officially 4th series) actually came in to replace it. (Confused yet?!) For those specification orientated I can tell you that the 'MkI' Roadster were first released in Sept '62 with 3-main bearing "B" series engine of 1798cc (18G designation). Front suspension as per MGA but softer sprung. 'Banjo' rear axle. Options available included: heater, wire wheels, oil cooler, front ant-roll bar, folding hood, tonneau cover. The Laycock overdrive (D-type) and the 'works' glassfibre hardtop became available as options during 1963. Feb '64: Closed-circuit crankcase breathing on engine (now known as 18GA). Oct '64: 5-main bearing engine fitted, with fully-floating gudgeon pins replacing circlips in ...
