I've had my Dyson DC04 for almost four years now. And so far it's been very loyal and served me well. I only hope it doesn't break down as soon as I finish this review- that's what I usually find happens when you start bragging about your gadgets!
Anyway back to what I was saying, in the entire time i've owned my vacuum, I can only remember two occasions when I experienced a slight glitch with it. Both times it was my use-less hubby's fault and could of been easily avoided. The first time was when he vacuumed over a some sharp matter on the floor that snapped the belt. This I simply solved by replacing it with another belt that I bought for three pounds from a local DIY store.
I must however mention that although I fitted the belt in very easily by following the instructions in the dyson manual, not everyone may be capable ...

Advantages: runs on battries so doesnt need 14w to run the unit like some others Disadvantages: none to hand
will not be lost when you plug it out.
The Brennenstuhl meter seems more sensitive - in our phone charger tests, it always gave a reading, unlike the Prodigit meter
