Advantages: Super Sound Quality Disadvantages: None
...So much fun when it comes to Kariokie and with the KAM PRO 5000 DVD MKII its so easy. The quality is fantastic i have seen outher kariokie players like this wich are not in the same leage. I have the powered modal with the speakers what sound fantastic. Really good purchace good price. Will play all the CD+G disks that you can buy for the kariokie and displays the words on your tv, will also play normall cds and dvd's so if you are looking for a new dvd player. Why not pay a little bit more and have all the kariokie features aswell. On the outherhand i would not recomend using the sound from your tv as it is not really sufficant and this system can diliver so much with proper speakers....

Advantages: Loads of different features 90 watt per channel Disadvantages: size weigth and over heating
...found the tone controls of being able to change the bass and the treble to preicley how i want to a great adavantage i had my music sounding close to perfect but then i realised if you use the source direct feature you could inhance the quality even further.
But this is where everything went from great to extremly bad for me.
I found out to my greatest of worries that using th A class mode overheated the amp to a unstable amount if kept on for to long.
within a month and a half the amp siezd up.
so in a panic i got the instuction manual to see a load of warning signs about the amp overheating and how you must not put any thing on top of the amp within 2 metres of it and as my cd player was resting on top of it i soon found out why my amp had died on me so soon. it also says not to touch the top panel of the amp whilst the amp is...

Advantages: Features, durability, looks and abilities as a Dolby 2.0 Receiver Disadvantages: Poor control over demanding music, weak midrange and a general lack of muscles.
...thins get heavy.
On the other hand; As a Dolby Stereo 2.0 amp it works very well. Almost as I suspect Marantz to have tried to make a Stereo Receiver for a Stereo Home Teather instead of a straight forward stereo amp.
I 'd recommend it for shelf speakers or small floor standing speakers, if high-end isn't your main objective. But more demanding speakers will strip this amp to the bone.
I've tested it on a couple of SEAS Avantis and a couple of QLN 603 mkIIs and I changed back to my old Dynaco 2x50 power amp which is overall a MUCH better amp.
If you don't need a big, high-end amp giving you class A and lot's og power, but just want an amp that plays NICE, this is a good alternatvie. As a background music amp (or a Dolby 2.0 Receiver), it's more than be sufficiant. Else; Buy something else. This is not Marantz finest moment and is...
