My Opinion
I had read the book Death in the Clouds some time ago and vaguely remembered who had committed the murder and how (or maybe there are murders, I'm not telling you) but couldn't remember exactly why. Knowing who the killer was did not deter ...
Advantages: Keeps you intrigued until the end. Surprising ending, quite takes your breath away. Disadvantages: Just that the ending is so good, you can't forget it, so re-reading means it has to be done knowing the ending.
Introduction
My second favourite AgathaChristie ever, second only to Sleeping Murder. How she managed to think up so many excellent plots is beyond me. There is no-one to even touch the number of quality books that she had published. Anyone who hasn't read one, please do - there's something to charm everyone.
The plot
Charles Hayward returns from his Foreign Office post abroad, with the aim of asking his girlfriend, Sophia Leonides, to marry him. He is shocked to find on arrival that her grandfather, Aristide Leonides, has died and that it was not an accident. His father being the Assistant Commissioner, means that Charles has special access to information and he accepts Sophia's invitation to go and stay with the Leonides family to help solve the murder. If the murderer is the "right" person, ie Aristide's young widow, Brenda ...
Imagine how pleased I was when I came across this category whereby one can write about authors and to find my favourite detective novel author, Dame AgathaChristie - undisputed "Queen of Crime", in here pleased me even more!

When friendship becomes love, two people must face their greatest fear - being hurt again! The powerful new besteller from the country's number one storyteller. Luke Hammond: handsome, rich, charismatic, cursed by private tragedy. Amy Maitland: humble and kind with a good - but wounded - heart. When they meet by chance in a cafe run by Amy's best friend Daisy, a spark of love takes hold of their hearts. But neither are sure that they can dare to love again. And what of Luke's public life, hidden from Amy? The owner of a large factory, he is a pillar of the community, married - though in name only. But Luke is also a sensitive and emotional man, whose greatest joy is retreating to his woodland cabin, nestled deep in the Ribble Valley, where he creates powerful paintings. Amy is torn between her head and her heart, but her sense of honour is paramount - and when she discovers his true identity, she is thrown into even greater turmoil. Then disaster strikes the factory - and with it Daisy. Suddenly, the future looks troubled indeed!. About the AuthorJosephine Cox was born in Blackburn, one of ten children. At sixteen, Josephine married her husband Ken. When their two sons started school, Josephine went to college and gained a place at Cambridge University. She did not take this up as it would have meant living away from home, but she went into teaching - and started to write her first full-length novel. She won the 'Superwoman of Great Britain' Award at the same time as her novel was accepted for publication.
