Today has been a chilly day here in Scotland - again!! This afternoon i put the kettle on and made myself a large mug of tea. Just the thing to curl up on the sofa with on a day like this.
I searched the cupboard for something to have with my tea. I didnt want anything chocolatey so that was the kitkats and single twix's out of the question. Then i find a packet of Fox's Rich Tea Creams. One of my favourit plain biscuits.
I only dicovered the existance of these biscuits a few months ago whilst browsing the aisles of Somerfield.
Knowing that they are made by Fox's you are assured of a quality and tasty biscuit and this is indeed what you get.
>>>>Let me tell you about the packaging<<<<
These are packaged in a rectangular packet with a shiny bright turquoise plastic wrapper. On the top left hand corner of the wrapper you will find the words "Fox's Est 1835" in a big dark blue square with white writing and under that in cream wobbly writing - Rich Tea Creams.
Towards the right of the wrapper are a picture of the biscuits which are actually larger than the real thing!! Underneath their picture you are told about them - "Light, crips biscuits with vanilla flavour cream filling".
At the right hand edge of my wrapper there is a big yellow patch with "only 59p" written on it. To me all this detail on the packaging sells the product immediately by:-
1. A name you can trust (Fox's) 2. A tempting picture of the product - even if it is larger than real life!! 3. The special bargain price of 59p
>>>>THE BISCUITS<<<<
Once you rip open the turquoise wrapper you are greeted by 19 cream biscuits of rectangular shape sitting sideways in a clear plastic tray. On examining a biscuit i would say these are 1 inch by 3 inch in size.
These biscuits are very pretty to look at as they have a nice bumpy edge all the way around and a nice pattern embossed on the edge of the biscuit too. IN the middle of the biscuit "FINGER CREAM" is stamped.
So Fox's have taken two pretty biscuits and joined them together with a vanilla cream. They have done this in such a way that they have used enough cream for the biscuits to stick together but not too much that it is filled to the edges of the biscuit.
>>>>TASTE TEST<<<<
My first bite of one of these bicuits was heavanly and very moreish! The biscuit itself is very crispy and light and not too sweet. The sweetness comes from the cream vanilla filling. The cream is nice and sweet but because Fox's havent gone overboard with it the taste is just right when munched with the biscuit in your mouth. Sweet but not too sickly!! Perfect combination.
>>>>VALUE<<<<
I reckon these are very good value at just over 3p per biscuit and a nice change from chocolate biscuits.
>>>>Calories and stats<<<<
51 Calories per biscuit and 1.3g of saturated fat
Suitable for vegetarians
The packaging does tell you that this has been made in a factory which uses nut ingredients
Fox's also invite you for your views and provide you with an address to write to, freephone helpline and an email address.
The packaging also tells you that the picture shown is not actual size. If i had read that first i wouldnt have had by husband in stiches with my placing a biscuit on top of the wrapper to check!
One thing i might add is that although they are called rich tea creams the biscuit bit doesnt actually taste like Rich Teas.
Advantages: Lovely, taste great Disadvantages: None
These biscuits remind me so much of being young. To me they’ve always been called Nelly’s biscuits, and I still can them that now! My aunty Nelly used to live at the bottom of where I live, in the same village. I do remember going down to her bungalow with my mam and nana to see her, and she was always asking if I wanted one of Aunty Nelly’s biscuits. Of course, that was Rich Tea Creams. She kept them in a big silver tin in the ... ...went. She died when I was about 4, but I still remember her asking if I wanted one of her biscuits.
To this day, my mam and nana always say Nelly’s biscuits! It’s quite weird but a lovely memory, and they’ll always be Nelly’s biscuits to me!!
Anyway. The biscuits come in a long blue packet. It’s 26cms in length, the front of the packet is quite simple, it has the Fox’s logo emblazoned across the top. Fox’s ...

Advantages: Taste of white chocolate and vanilla; lovely and sweet Disadvantages: A part from the unhealthy side not alot really; perhaps thicker filling
Rich Tea creams are Fox's variation on the classic Custard Cream, which happen to be one of my favourite bikkies. My step-dad bought one of those huge boxes of broken biscuits and as I was sifting through the mounds of crushed fruit shorties and digestives, I found these little delights in various pieces. Okay, finding a whole one I can now describe the product. Tea Creams are 6cm long and 2cm wide (the same size as my little finger to put that into ... ...patterned border running around the biscuit with the words 'FINGER CREAM' stamped in the middle on both sides. They consist of, like a custard cream, two thin biscuits stacked ontop of a creamy filling, The filling is very thin at about 0.1cm (roughly the same thickness as a ruler) but this doesn't compromise on the taste.
The biscuits smells wonderfully sweet. It doesn't have that wheaty smell like disgestive biscuits; they have that vanilla hit. ...

Fox’s Rich Tea Creams were one of those sweets we bought yesterday in Sainsbury’s. I opened a pack of them to accompany our coffee as there is such bad weather outside and we almost fall asleep. Advantages: nice to dip in tea Disadvantages: lacks originality
As i picked up my cup of tea, i noticed a blue rectangular packet of biscuits on the worktop next to it. The word "Fox's" was in bold at the top left hand corner with a glowing blue around it. underneath in yellow was written, "Rich tea creams." The first thing that came to my head was, "Rich tea's with cream in them?" It sounded like an odd thing to me, so i decided to have a look at them. The front of the packet read, "Light, crisp biscuits with ... ...would definitely be able to see the huge sign text reading, "ONLY 65P" Surrounded by a bright yellow background. If you are one of them people who try to watch what they eat, and are worried about fat or sugar content, then you wouldnt be very happy with the layout on the back of the packet. A Bright yellow strip covers up the nutritional information and ingredients, so to see them, you have to pull back the strip of yellow. Unless you look hard ...
