Foxtons

OK so I came back to the UK after 3 years in Oz, we decided that we wanted to live in Wimbledon (never lived there before) and looked on the web for agents in the area. Sadly we came up with Foxtons. As I can see from the other reviews no-one is ever happy with Foxtons. This was of course unknown to me and my wife at the time much to our detriment. Foxtons, by anybody’s reckoning and by reputation are upmarket estate agents, priding themselves on quality property and quality service. Perhaps this is true, but do not be so sure of reputation, it is a dangerous thing and can sometimes leave you disappointed. Yes as you may guess I am not enamoured with this company. Let me tell you why? We needed to move flat as our current rented palace was being sold (out of our budget to buy!) so we wanted a quality place in North West London to let and with a budget of £300 a week, we thought no problem. As a first time sellers, my sister and my brother-in-law signed up with a fast talking, flashy sales man type Mr. H who promised that houses in our area sell within 2-3 weeks on average. Once we sign the “6” month contract, the Foxtons photographer would come in with a day or two, take pictures which would be posted on their site within 5 days to a week at most. Mr. H made 2 trips before our signatures were on the contract from NJ to NY a 40min. trip. However, things change for the worst and it was apparent. You may have a look at all the foxtons offices and find that they employ 95% of white people. If your a potential customer please be careful of the following reported by BBC: 2006, an investigation by the BBC accused the organisation of various unethical practices, including illegal collusion with sister company Alexander Hall over prospective buyer's finances, falsification of client's signatures, lying about fake offers, and deliberate undervaluing of properties. I have read the reviews of Foxtons and thought it only fair to share my experience. I was selling my 1 bed flat, in pretty ordinary condition above a commercial property and on a fairly busy road! Not the greatest place you will ever see or hear about. I had a valuation above what i thought i would get for it but said fine if that is what you think you can get for it then fair enough. The fee they charged was 2.25% and it was non negotiable. I instructed them, gave them a set of keys and they said they would let me know about any viewings coming up.
