Having completed the installation process, which was as ever a simple and straightforward process, I fired up DW MX for the first time, although it was not quite like the feeling of ripping open my Christmas presents, as I had downloaded the beta version from Macromedia?s site to have a little look at before this one popped through the letterbox. As I had previously mentioned, the product had a new look ? with the traditional floating palettes, which did tend to clutter the screen up a lot and infuriated by the fact that they were not dockable with one another, having been replaced by the integrated palettes, with everything selectable from the right hand side and beneath the work area, where the properties palette is kept.

I was first introduced to this software at school and have since been hooked. As an alternative to using notepad for making websites it is fantastic. The most useful programs in the package are Dreamweaver (website building) and Fireworks (Graphics). There is also in this set Flash, Freehand and Coldfusion.
Dreamweaver is a fantastic piece of software which incorporates all the other elements in the MX packgage with ease. There is the usual graphic and code view, file manger, FTP and much more. The only downside to this program is that when you use html (or other code/scripts) that is not generated by Dreamweaver I have found that it doesn't cope well and rarely crashes. Which is very annoying at least.
Fireworks I believe is a God send for website coders who are not strong at graphic design because it is simple to use ...

The new menus Visual controls help alot. You don?t even need to look through the menus for a certain function. It is all there. This package includes word processing, e-mail, and the Web, and produce useful promotion campaign. I was able to create my university word processing assignments, spreadsheets, and presentations, and other tasks like building databases easily.
