Free UK also provides a wide range of news group. The connection speed is and fast. Access to the internet through a proxy server is also supported. The sign up process is also clean and simple. A free 25MB web space is also provided. Good tutorial about uploading the files to the website is provided on the support page.
I seldom have connection problem with this ISP and it has served me well. I will definitely recommend this ISP to my friend.
FreeUk is better than Freeserve it offers free webspace, loads of e-mail addresses, super fas 0845 connection and many other servcices like newsgroups. I would definately use this service if you are looking for a free 0845 isp. I have uused FreeUk for years and it is still as fast as it was when it first came out, in fact it has improved with a new website and no engaged tones even at off-peak hours. This isp has a very basic layout but i have to say that ive never had a problem with any of there services. There are some good aspects to this isp which are missing from others, such as full newsgroup access, a great guide to using your free webspace.
Free uk was my favourite isp but when i lost my hard drive i hadnt got the disc and ended up using uk online but im seriously considering going back as soon as possible.

I have a number of seperate accounts with Free UK in order to get different 'domains' for all my websites I have half a dozen) and there are many good reasons why I am very happy with the service provided.
Firstly Free UK is very easy to sign up with on line. You fill in a small form, chose your username and password and you're off. Your webspace has it's own (sort of) domain, for example http://home.freeuk.net/indian-head http://home.freeuk.net/homeworking ... ...really nice touch.
Accessing the server is very easy, you get to log on first time, every time. I have never had ANY bother with the service being down or upgraded or not available etc.
There is extensive on line support and a telephone helpline if youc annot find the exact info you are looking for. I have no complaints at all with Free UK. ...

...have used various ISP's and FreeUK is one of the smaller unheard of companies. Compared to Freeserve I tend to connect to FreeUK better with better first time connection. Also FreeUK’s mail account connects a lot quicker and has in general less timeouts. However Freeserve does offer good deals with BT on off-peak and peak connections. The one big advantage of FreeUK is uncensored news groups access, which will allow YOU to decide what you want ... ...ISP’s own web portal.
FreeUK is the best if you have to pay per minute calls for an allegedly free ISP.
UPDATE 21st MARCH 2001
After installing a new v90 modem it seems I cannot connect at above 32,000 bps to freeuk. Figuring it might be the modem settings/driver at fault I then decided to read a little more on the freeuk web site FAQ. Apparently I was dialling to the wrong phone number, on rectifying this I tried to connect again but still ...
