I recieved this gadget for Christmas and was well impressed when I got it working. any computer with a USB 2 port is suitable, just install the software and go. Using my home TV aerial I was able to scan and collect fifity TV and Radio Stations, and that in an area where, according to freeview's website, I should not be able to get any! It now lives in my laptop case and whenever I have to spend the night away, I can watch digital TV in my hotel ... ...plug in the box, attach the aerial, scan and pick what you want to watch.
It comes with a small remote control if you are too lazy to reach for the mouse!
It's a great little product, does, as they say, exactly what it says in the tin, and for about £35-£40 is pretty cheap for a Telly! I have even watched TV in my car when have stopped for lunch and not fancied a walk.
you get the full range of channels that are available on Freeview, I won't ...

Advantages: greay hardware, easy to set up, very portable. Disadvantages: software bundled is dier
This is a product that I have had for about 1/2 a year now and I feel that it is a very good product but can be improved in some ways.
I feel that this TV stick is a great product and turns any computer into a digital TV on minutes. It picks up a range of channels on my households Ariel and I haven’t tried running it on the Ariel provided. It is extremely compact, I use it in my very small room where I have a computer and there is not room for a ... ...little at around £30 and provides good television however there are some things that can be improved.
Improvements needed:
The main improvements that I feel need to be made are not to do with the product itself but with the software bundled with this item. I feel that this has too many limitations, it is great for watching TV itself but there are several things that cause annoyance. Firstly the channel list is in no particular order and you cannot ...

Advantages: MCE compatible, good reception, good quality, cheap Disadvantages: A lot of initial problems
I bought this product in December 2006 to accompany a new laptop I purchased. Originally I was disappointed, because after spending a few hours trying to get it to work with Windows Media Center I finally managed, but my channel scan received exactly no channels.
However, after a lot of experimenting with the aerial, I finally got all freeview channels by attaching it to a metal bed, with the magnetic base on the aerial.
Since then, it's been nothing ... ...better quality than a cheap TV, and good reception too (after the initial problems). The remote control could have a few more buttons, and the bundled software was awful, but once I got it to work with Media Center, it worked a treat!
I would recommend this for a cheap way to get TV on your PC. ...

Advantages: Small, easy to install, easy to use Disadvantages: Remote control of limited use
Excellent little product for viewing digital TV on a PC.
Plugs into spare USB socket, or can use included extension lead if it fouls adjacent connectors. Takes its power through the USB port so no power socket or bulky transformer required.
Included mini-aerial comes with sucker for sticking on window if required, or can plug in a coax lead from your rooftop aerial for a stronger signal if available.
Only takes a few minutes to install software ... ...to receive same full range of Freeview channels as on "big" integrated digital TV, including some Welsh language channels from a transmitter 60 miles away. Picture and sound quality are excellent provided the PC isn't doing anything else - otherwise they can be a bit jumpy.
Widescreen broadcasts can also look a bit squashed horizontally when expanded to full monitor-shaped screen.
The on-screen program guide is intuitively easy to use, although ...

Advantages: Cheap, Works Disadvantages: Poor software

While Freecom does not officially support Linux, Realtek (who make the DVB chipset) have released a driver that has been modified for easy installation by the Ubuntu community (just search the forum). It works flawlessly with Kaffeine (free media player). ...

* Introduction *
Many years ago, I was one of those unfortunate people who decided to subscribe to the, now defunct company, OnDigital. I had a rather nice set-top box next to my TV in the living room, and I could receive and watch channels that... more
