Welcome to a new era in external hard drive storage! The Freecom FHD-3 offers a new, unprecedented concept of data storage. What seems like just another external hard drive is in fact the start of a new modular concept with the FHD-3 as the source. In the near future you will be able to find more Freecom products in the same look as the FHD-3, thereby making it possible to stack one unit on top of the other and creating a stack of multimedia products which could develop into the center of your personal data life. Think about adding an AV unit, enabling you to watch movies from your FHD-3 on your own TV. Or a Wireless adapter, enabling you to share the data on the FHD-3 in a wireless environment.... The possibilities are endless. Keep it simple!

...This Freecom External Hard Drive is a 2.5" Hard Drive that has a USB interface and uses your computer's bus power to power itself. This means that an AC adapter is not required. With so few of these truly bus powered drives around, this is one of the best, followed closely by the Lacie bus powered drive.
Thsi drive is ideal for laptop users who travel with a lot of data, or for those going on holiday with laptops who want to take their mp3's, movies and software with them. It is also great for transferring files to your laptop from another desktop computer. The drive is small enough to fit in a side pocket or to be held in yur hand without difficulty.
The box comes with a good instruction manual, although really one is not needed. The drive is a plug and play device, and windows picks it up as any ordeinary drive. I recommend you...

Advantages: Looks good, quick Disadvantages: Poor software, not for computer illiterate
...A 400gb one touch backup device 7200 rpm and 8 mb cache(click button on front to back up)
When i first open the box on this product and installed the software i thought wow what a good looking product, and it seems to be quite easy to install, but the the problems started to arise if i tried to use the firewire connections, the whole operating system on my computer would freeze and take 8 mins before i could use my computer again. to ensure that it was not my computer i have tested it on other computers and again the same problems.
For a backup device i would not recommend this product as after a few months the harddrive failed meaning that all the data that i had backed up was lost.
though (even though its a bit bulky) you could use it as a portable drive if you required a 400 gb to be transported around....
issues:

Advantages: Hugh storage space Disadvantages: Extra cables around PC
...This hard drive is perfect. It is 500gb in size, which is more than enough for storing hundreds of films, thousands of documents, music, etc... You will not run out of space for a long time.
---------------
Installation
---------------
The box came through the post, i opening it, pluged it in the mains, connected the USB cable into my PC, them inserted the instalation CD that came with it with some added software. The drive itself is plug and play, meaning on Windows XP, it will be recognised automatically.
The default file system needs to be changed to FAT32 but this is an easy adjustment with a click of the mouse.
------
Use
------
The noise output is minimal, and so is the heat output. There is no fan so there isonly noise from the motor inside. The noise from the fans on my PC drowns that out, so i dont even notice.
The speed...
